Yes. I thought the binding was cleared when the new gear is crafted. Otherwise, how would people sell 4* and 5* equips that they crafted for a request?

no... once it is blinded to you it stay with you
Since the update quite sometimes ago, any item that is bound to you will stay with you even if you upgrade it.. Those people that are selling the 4* / 5* equip had crafted them before the update, hence the equip is not bound yet.
On a side note, i have a silvermail recipe for sale, interested?
you realize to level any equipment up requires binding it to your character right
