Hello there!

As the title says, I'm new here and I'm.. well... looking for some help.

To the point, my lifelong ambition was to be a trader in a MMORPG.... ummmm, not really, but I've always wanted to try out the traders way. I basically know most of the theory, you know, 'Buy low Sell high' and 'Be kind to customers', but I'm looking for some more specific help. You see, I lack the practice. What's kept me from trading in past MMORPG's is that I never knew any prices and I never knew what to buy and sell, this is where you come in and also the purpose of this whole thread. I want advice on what to sell and buy, what is popular etc. I've only started in the game so keep in mind that I don't exactly have a large supply of crowns. I was also wondering if it is better to sell using the Auction House, the trade channel ingame, or something completely different.

I would really appreciate it if you gave me some tips, tricks or whatever you want really, to give me a kickstart in my trading career. I'm sure that I'll come out of this thread armed with the knowledge to take on the economy.

Thanks in advance,
~Sir Bartholomew Gloppington

All of the above.

You should really utilize whatever avenue of trade is available to you if you want to maximize profit.

Every once in a while, people standing around the AH will ask if you have x amount of x material. If you have some, why not ask how much they're willing to pay for it? Might make a quick buck or two.

With regards to Auction House pricing, first, look at the prices of the items that the Stranger merchants are selling. That's your baseline price. Then, do a search for the name of the item you're selling at the AH. Use the baseline price and the AH prices to determine what price you'll put on items to put up on the AH. You can probably go higher if the item in question has a Unique Variant (UV).

As for which items to sell, go through the wiki for a bit, and see which equips have alchemy lines that go to ★★★★★. The ★★ versions of those are more likely to sell than equips that have alchemy lines that end rather prematurely. Popular lines are the Wolver line of helmets and armors, and the Owlite shield line (of the Magic set line). A possible exception is the Cobalt set line, because the recipes for those are always available at Kozma the Spiral Quartermaster in the Bazaar.

P.S.: Haze Bomb

Thank you

Awesome, thanks for the advice, I'll make good use of it.

I guess it's time to pull my trading hat on, but first I have one more question. Is it possible to 'sustain' your character through trading only?

The 10% broker fee kills

The 10% broker fee kills playing with the AH like you may in some other games. You still could i suppose but it would require more work for less reward.
