For the hardest weapon in the game to obtain, this sword is awful.

Combuster is superior to FoV in DPS and is easier to obtain. To make matters worse, Combuster is also inferior to Divine Avenger where it matters most, namely arenas, danger rooms, and FSC. The charge is also a serious double edged sword.

The only reason you'd ever want to whip this out instead of Combuster or DA is for killing the Jelly King.

This is pathetic.

After getting it myself, I

After getting it myself, I can give some actual feedback.

It does less damage than Combuster, but it can cause Fire with normal attacks. The fire deals varying damage depending on the monster... which makes sense, in some monsters in question.

The charged attack deals immense amounts of damage, if all three hits connect; in t3, if the three hits land, it deals 1500+ damage. The self fire deals about a fifth of your health even with maxed Fire resist, and will basically give you a death sentence otherwise; Remedies are like ammunition for this.

Now, let's think here. If you start at depth 25, Charred Court, the latest you can join Firestorm Citadel at and still get three Almirian Seals, you'll spend 40 energy minimum to pay for the elevator. In most parties, energy revives in the Vanaduke battle are a given, so, raise that to 50 (being generous even with that; some runs can be disastrous). Since you get three Almirian Seals for 50 energy on average, that equates to roughly 17 energy per Seal. You have to get 40 Seals for a Fang of Vog. 40 X 17 = 480 Energy. Now, looking at the values and ignoring the effort involved, that's a good deal for a 5* weapon that would cost much more energy to obtain.

But then you take into mind the effort.

Why is this weapon, for the time it takes to get, so bad? It might be a good deal in terms of energy, but just think of the time you have to spend to get it, the skill involved, the grinding. It NEEDS a buff, whether it be making a ring of fire around the charge attack, staying there as a sort of Fiery Vaporizer mist, or removing the self fire... It's just lackluster in effectiveness for the time you need to spend to obtain it.

I'd personally prefer if Fang

I'd personally prefer if Fang of Vog were changed to make more sense based on how it looks.

It LOOKS like a striker. Why not make it ACT like one as well?

Basically, transforming Fang of Vog into a 5 star striker.

Split Normal/Elemental damage as normal for FoV rather than strict normal (regular striker)

Basic Attack

A 10-hit combo, consisting of 5 swings doing 2 hits apiece, each followed by a phantasmal image of a Vog Cub that bites the area struck. The bite is roughly half the strength of the normal sword swing. Each swing has a chance of inflicting fire.

The sword hits themselves should have a Slight chance to inflict Strong Fire (See : Dread Venom Striker)
Each phantasmal Vog Cub bite should have a Good chance to inflict Strong Fire

Charge Attack

A 360 spin attack that releases a pillar of flame, similar to the Firo Knight's spin attack, but with a giant phantasmal image of a Vog Cub appearing and biting the area in front of the knight. It has a chance of causing fire to what it hits, but also has a chance to inflict fire on the user.

The phantasmal bite would hit the area 180 degrees in front of the knight, allowing for a max of 3 hits to all foes 180 degrees behind the knight, and 4 hits to all foes 180 degrees in front.

This would combine traits of the current Fang of Vog, with Wild Hunting Blade.

This would not only make this weapon more impressive, but also more effective.

I love it, Boolet. I mean, I

I love it, Boolet. I mean, I thought myself that it was weird that it was a Calibur-style weapon, even if it was the same size and lightweight-feel as a Striker.

@ Dukesky Many would

@ Dukesky

Many would consider my suggestion a nerf, for two reasons.

1. Wild Hunting Blade is considered the inferior choice of the two strikers, not only due to lack of poison, but because the phantasmal wolvers often miss due to knockback.

2. Calibur/Brandish is generally preferred over Cutter, so this would be a welcome change in my opinion.

Boolet, I wasn't making a serious comment, I was making a bad pun / joke. As "Nerf or nothing" is a tagline Hasbro uses frequently when selling Nerf products in its ads.

I was being contrary to the topic for the sake of humor, but I haz failed ._.

Please do not take Boolet's

Please do not take Boolet's advice and turn this into a striker. The only reason I want this sword is because of its similarity in strike pattern to the Leviathan which is my favorite sword in the game due to its defensive strike pattern and charge attack.

I do think that the Fang needs help. Removing the self fire chance would be a good start. There is already a chance of igniting an enemy and having the enemy ignite you. That's troublesome enough.

I'd say increase the damage of this weapon marginally (about 10%) and remove the self ignite chance on the charge. Then this weapon will see play beyond being a trophy.

If we need to pay 800 CE and 5000 crowns to purchase it in order to balance the cost of the weapon with others in addition to the tokens, so be it.

foV is good sword

foV is awsome against the jk and ice queen.
fov`s charge very strong vs jellies undeads and constucts.u get on fire .it is true but the dmg dealt it`s bigger.plus :who the hell uses foV
without fire resist armour and without remedy pills?! i don`t .and u get on fire like 2-3 times form 6 charges .and its not hard to get. when i do vana runs i always win.only happened 3-4 times to lose.u get money fighting at vana ,u dont spend them as u do crafting the combuster.combuster is good ..it is safe to use but personally i prefer foV.

I'm getting quite a kick out

I'm getting quite a kick out of the thought of FoV being a DVS WHB style sword while roughly retaining its current charge. It'd be so much fun :P I don't know about balanced, but fun for sure.

Also am I right in assuming that any DMG bonuses you have applied increase the self fire dmg? Perhaps removing that could serve as a buff of a sort?

Agreed

Fang of Vog is one of the hardest to obtain items in the game. It is not worth getting at all right now because it has so many downsides. For example, FoV's charge attack has that chance to inflict yourself with fire. The best way to make the sword worth obtaining is to remove the chance to inflict yourself with fire. Others may say that they should just increase the ASI or Damage Bonus but if you want higher damage or ASI just get a Combuster. The one thing that makes the FoV differ from the other swords is the charge attack. So why not make the charge attack actually worth using?

......

Actually the charge is quite powerful and worth using in the right circumstances. Comparing the FOV to the Combuster is like comparing cats and dogs.

The Combuster is built for dealing damage to crowds of monsters from any distance with relative safety. The FOV is more suited towards single target elimination.

The biggest reason for the drop in FOV popularity is the rise of Chaos and BK sets. Both of these sets have fire penalties so using the FOV charge could potentially be suicidal. On other sets like The Fallen and the Vog Cub you will fare much better due to the minimized fire damage.

The FOV is my favorite weapon for many scenarios, I especially like to solo with it as it is a potential OHKO weapon against :Deadnaughts, Trojans, Lumbers, and Turrets. With ASI boosts you can hit not 3 but 4 times on the charge buffing it's damage by 33%! If you are skilled at timing flash charges you can increase the charge damage by to astronomical levels.

The FOV also comes with an ability usually available only to guns, you can cause status on any of the regular attacks! The combuster on the other hand can ONLY deal status in the charge.
