Split damage in T1 danger rooms?

I have a set of 2-star spiral plate, which has very high normal defense and makes me almost invulnerable in the first Tier, since monsters there supposedly do full normal damage.

However, I noticed that when I get hit, I take a lot more damage in lower (depth 5-7) Tier 1 danger rooms, with or without spiral plate. The only explanation I can think of is that the monsters there actually do split damage, like in Tier 2, since there are Tier 2 monsters in there sometimes.

Can anyone confirm this?

The colors of the bars that

The colors of the bars that come off your body tell you what type of damage they do. If you didn't know: Danger Rooms borrow enemies from the next Tier, so they might just be that much harder. I still don't think they do anything but normal damage.

If you see jellies with

If you see jellies with little knobby bits on them, those are being ah...requisitioned from Tier2 for your enjoyment.

Non-normal damage rectangles pop off a different color than the red of normal damage.

Ah, ok thanks. I kind of assumed everything on Tier 1 was normal damage, even when rectangles with other colors than red popped off.

You can also tell what type

You can also tell what type of damage they will do by the color of their "attack aura." The little glow-y thing that shows up before they attack. Red for normal, yellow for piercing, green for elemental, and purple for shadow. If you see those colors in the "auras" or in the damage bars then you are taking different types of damage. Otherwise it should just be red.

But I thought that T1

But I thought that T1 monsters are always supposed to do normal damage even when they have a different-colored aura?

"Tier 1 will now only feature normal damage"

So I was just wondering if the danger rooms were an exception.

That's the point, they're not

That's the point, they're not T1 monsters. They're T2 monsters. You'll see them only in danger rooms at depths 5-7.

In T2 danger rooms for depths 14-17, you'll find T3 monsters.

Alright, thanks. Just wanted a confirmation that danger room monsters in Tier 1 indeed do damage other than normal.

No, I had some spikey jellies in a danger room on Depth 1 just yesterday.

In addition, some levels

In addition, some levels spawn monsters from higher tiers.

like this.

I've also seen T3 jellies in Jelly castle, a T3 alpha wolver in a T2 wolver den, T3 owlites in T2 scarlet castle, and a T2 gun puppy in a T1 deconstruction zone. It's rare, but it does happen.
