Bring another round of the Rose Regalia Bonus Sale. I'm betting that you've already planned on doing so, but here's my addition so it'll make a bigger splash.

Part 1
Don't recycle the same art from the previous Rose Regalia Set. This way both sets will retain their aesthetic values. Also, this will ensure that the players know future sets will not be the same thus not decreasing interest. Options for design: 1. revamped art on the current item 2. or entirely new theme and/or 3. same or new set of three colors.

Part 2
Time the sale for when the Crystal Energy via Crowns returns to a steep climb like the recent Saturday to Tuesday prices. Since the price has plateaued for the time being the sale should wait for the most effective time. If the sale launches during a price spike most players would be inclined to purchase Crystal Energy via Cash. On top of wanting to already buy Crystal the sale would greatly 'persuade' players to purchase higher quantities than they previously would have had if there was no sale.

Part 2.5
The other reason for timing it during a price spike is to stabilize the Crystal Energy market making it less painful (so they don't decide to quit) for the players who fall into the category of half Crystal via Cash and half Crystal via Crowns and those who fully rely on Crystal via Crowns.

For point 2.5

The rose set was terrible for stabilizing the CE market

Straight after the promo was over, CE prices skyrocketed to prices higher then prior to the promo almost immediately.
i have no idea why that is so, but it was amusing to me at least =p

Revision for part 2.5

I should have said for part 2.5 that it would be a temporary band-aid. Your right, it won't bring any real long term stabilization. Possibly not even a favorable short term result. However, the short term benefits don't seem entirely bad if it does end up stalling the already spiking prices (if the sale was launched during a severe spike) till the conclusion of the sale period and maybe beyond. The difference this time around is the gigantic numbers of players that joined since the Steam launch. This could produce different results or could end up repeating itself.

This would certainly not be a decent solution to what ails the Crystal Energy market for the players, but something that I can see Three Rings considering to cash in on. Which isn't a bad thing. Ultimately, I feel it's the way the game gates the content in conjunction with the fluidity between Crowns, Crystal, and Mist. With the most emphasis being the relationship between Crystal and Mist. The situation is not fixable and can only be stalled for so long. The only good time for radical (cataclysmic game breaking people raging kind of) change would be at the peak of the problem which could be too late for a majority, but better than leaving it on its course and losing almost everyone. This would be a good time to test a similar economical mechanism for Spiral Knights 2.

The Steam launch was definitely a huge success. Hopefully Sprial Knights 2 or their next free to play game will be much more economically balanced. This is one of the most enjoyable free to play games I have ever played.

I didn't intend to type much, but summer class hasn't given me much time for SK so it all kind of spewed out.
