Let's say I bid on an item for 15,000. It has a buyout price of 50,000.
Alright, so the bid is placed and all's nice.
Well, let's say I wanted to go back and simply buyout the product, I'm tired of waiting for it. I have 35,000 crowns on hand.

When I click the buyout button...
It says I don't have enough crowns to buy out the auction, despite having already sank enough money into it in order to buy it out.
Nor can I simply 'bid' 50,000. I can only bid 35,000, the amount I have on hand.

Why can't I simply buy out the product? As it stands now, I'd have to go out and farm another 15,000 crowns in order to buy out the item.

And why isn't the name of the seller listed in the Auction House? It'd be nice so I can contact who I'm buying from.

I'm tired of waiting for it.

You're willing to spend an extra 35,000 Crowns because you don't feel like waiting? Wow.

You are missing the point

It was a hypothetical. Your argument holds no weight, because it's an attack on the person rather than the idea.

What if you were afraid the item was gonna get snatched up? What if the item, was, say, a Haze Bomb with High CTR, for which 50,000cr is a low low price. Wouldn't you want to buy up that item as fast as possible?

Your argument holds no

Your argument holds no weight

Here's where you're wrong; it wasn't an argument, opposition, nor was it disagreement. It simply was a comment on a hypothetical situation that didn't seem all that hypothetical. Kind of when someone says "my friend needs help" when they really mean themselves. It's a bit of a wild assumption, I'll admit, so I retract my previous statement.

Also

Your argument holds no weight, because it's an attack on the person rather than the idea.

It's called an ad hominem. Just thought you should know.

Yeah...

Either way, let's agree that Replicant is off-topic and didn't contribute anything to the suggestion.

Moving on...

Having anonymous auctions are kind of nice, since some merchants have prejudice against their competition, which can lead to mudslinging and boycotts.

In regards to the issue with buying out...I don't see it as that big of an issue, since you could just log on before the auction expires and check on your bid. If it's still the winning bid, wait it out - if it's been outbid, you'd get a refund that'd boost you to outbid or buyout the item.

1. as long as you are the

1. as long as you are the high bidder you will get the item at a smaller amount than the buyout you just need to wait

2. even if you don't win via being the high bidder, once you are outbid you'll gain back those crowns placed on the original bid and have enough to buyout

Oh!

Yeah, I see what your point is - and it is indeed a bit dilly. The AH should recognize when you have a high bid on and item, and allow you to use that plus the crowns on hand to make the Buy Now option if you so wish.

Also, all you little haters, it's none of your business if the person wants or doesn't want to wait for the bid to finish. If they wsnt to pay the 50k instead of risking being outbidded or bought out by other players in their sleep or w/e it's their choice.

Doesn't take away that this would be a good, and logical, fix for the AH - beneficial to both buyers and sellers alike.

Hmm

The problem with the "if someone outbids you then you can use the 'buy now' option then" idea is that the person who outbids you may use the 'buy now' option themselves.

Even if they don't, you're still committed to sitting around waiting to see if someone outbids you when you:
1) Might not be able to be online at that time, and
2) Might have plans for the item you are bidding on that you want to implement immediately.

seller name in AH

I'd also like to see the sellers' names in the AH.
The auction is too anonymous without the names... if you know what I mean.

i like the anonymous feel - that should not be changed at all.

Agree with the OP

I fail to see why this could be opposed. Once you have sunk 50k into an item with a 50k buyout price, you should get the item. In the scenario described above, someone else might not merely bid higher, but buy the item without giving the person with enough money for the item to buy it. This is obviously flawed.
