Unplayable Lag

Has anyone else noticed a sharp jump in lag lately?

Normally, my computer(s) have a slight lag issue when lots of things happen on the same screen at the same time (more or less, the game would freeze for a second or two, and then our characters would realign themselves with the server [often after taking a bit of damage], and we'd continue on), but this was infrequent, perhaps once or twice in a 20 minute period.

However, both last night and this morning, all of our computers (including the one that gets lag almost never) have been experiencing a tremendous amount of lag. Roughly once every 8-15 seconds, we've been getting periods where the game will stall for around 3 seconds, then have our characters realign themselves with the server (all commands are still transmitted, as well; if we shield or continue to move, we'll have our shields up when the game catches up). This happens in town and in dungeons alike.

We've tried everything we know how to fix it; less computers on the internet doesn't fix the problem either (I get the same lag when all other internet accessing devices are completely off). It's not my Java, as Minecraft works fine, and all files for SK seem like they are working how they should.

It -possibly- could be our internet, but no other games seem to be having this problem, from what I can tell.

Any help would be more than helpful!

Too many players. We're all dealing with it to an extent.

That was my thought, but,

That was my thought, but, just recently?

Though, it is the 4th of July weekend and everyone does have off. Maybe that really is all there is to it.

You can find the IP addresses

You can find the IP addresses of instances you visit in the projectx.log file, but the server farm drops ICMP/Ping at the edge of that network. However, you can traceroute to the last hop before it goes in... so that can give you a rough idea.

I'm a brand new player, and the tutorial mission with no one else playing was as if I were on a dialup modem (I'm old enough to remember those days). Every 3-10 seconds my screen freezes for about 5 seconds, then hurriedly catches up. I haven't seen a game this laggy in over a decade.

I'll keep trying to enjoy this game, but I won't be able to handle much more of it. Pity, too. This seems like such a well done F2P game.

EDIT: I'm trying, I really am. I found the thread with the Wiki link here: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Performance_issues_FAQ#In_Game_Stuttering

...but I'm using Catalyst 11.6, not 11.5, which seems to be the one having issues. And asking players in-game seems to net a typical "Yeah, we're lagging, too" response, and one player said that it's been happening for weeks - since the last update. Sigh.

EDIT 2: Holy crap. I just drove to Best Buy, picked up an nVidia GeForce 550 Ti, installed latest drivers (275.33), played for an hour, and didn't lag ONCE. Your Wiki needs to be updated - the 11.6 Catalyst version is also jacked up. I friggin hate ATI.
