Are you tired of fighting the same old enemies and bosses? Do you want to sit back and relax while casually gambling? Well come on down to the Haven Casino! Costing zero crowns and energy to enter, you can enjoy the luck and luxury of this marvelous Casino. But don't forget to bring a bucket full of crowns!

This Casino will have a few basic gambling activities, such as slot machines, darts and roulettes. You can gamble with Crowns or Crystal Energy. You can earn greater prizes by gambling with more money, but there are some limits and regulations to how much you can earn. From time to time, the Casino will run out of money and the players will need to donate crowns, minerals or energy to get the casino back in business. Another event is when the casino owner becomes generous and slightly reduces the fees for all activities, or slightly increases the crown prizes from all activities. Did I mention the owner of this casino is a Gremlin?

Rare prizes include random 4 to 5 Star recipies, 5 Star materials, Minerals, Crystal Energy, 3 non-boss tokens and upgrades such as item slots or heat amplifiers. Uncommon prizes include 2 and 3 star weapons, 1 or 2 non-boss tokens, weapons of 3 stars and below and recipies of 3 stars and below. Common prizes are materials of 3 stars and below and 5 to 10 Mist Energy. Very Common prizes are crown prizes that are valued around the price you paid for the activity, and "Casino Tokens" which allow you to do any Casino activity without needing to pay crowns or energy, but your prizes have a slightly lower value. Casino Tokens can be kept in your inventory at all times. There are bigger and better crown prizes, but I will leave that to Three Rings if they ever decide to implement a casino in Haven. There will also be trap prizes that steal some of your crowns or CE. The traps won't take too much, though.

I know some of you are gonna say this idea will promote farming. Well, you never know if those sneaky casino gremlins rigged the slot machines...Heh heh. But I'm sure that Three Rings can implement this idea in a way that doesn't break the game or cost them their money. It's gambling, after all. Once you start, you just can't stop! You can win big cash and lose it in a heartbeat. Besides, it's not like you're gonna win 5 star recipies and CE every time. The casino is going to be 100% luck based. Anything can happen, any time. Most of the time you're gonna win pocket money, casino tokens and low star items. And sometimes, you'll hit the big money. Or you'll end up getting a few trap prizes...

So what do you think? Comments and Criticism, anyone?

I'd rather have wagered PvP

I'd rather have wagered PvP battles that have a crown sink over a Casino.

hurr

How could it clash with gambling laws if it's in a video game done with ingame currency?

The government is trolling.

I LOVE this idea! Sometimes,

I LOVE this idea! Sometimes, i am pretty bored after I run out of energy and I can't seem to find good buisness with selling my materials. What better way to spend the afternoon losing all my money or getting even more? The bad thing i that it might encourage real-life gambling which is bad, so we might not want to make it too much like real-life gambling. We could have snipes bring around "food and drinks" just for decoration and you could even gamble materials and weapons and armor too(of course, they cant be binded and other players have to agree to what they might get if they win).

I don't like it (gambling

I don't like it (gambling addiction, economy etc.) and it doesn't fit into the "story" of SK. We crash landed on a planet, we started exploring the world and started gambling.

Something I could pass on, would be a daily lottery or something like that.

"We crash landed on a planet, we started exploring the world and started gambling."
I can totally see this happening. I blame the boredom lol

@Topic:
Well, I'm Ok with this. New places in Haven are always welcome to me.
Yeah, a casino is really bizarre and out of nowhere, but come on, "We crash landed on a planet, we started exploring the world, and we found strange giant people who sells shiny swords and recipes for more shiny swords, because they like shiny coins. And then, AUCTION HOUSE out of nowhere, because strangers and funny birds with funny wings REALLY like coins. And then, CASINO out of nowhere, because more shiny coins are always welcome to them..."
See? totally ok to the "story".

I think it sounds cool but

I think it sounds cool but your prizes are way too big unless those 5* weapons and armor are about as common as finding gear in the Clockworks from boxes. Even still those kinds of prizes should be proportional to the input of crowns/energy and the luck of the game itself, the higher the odds against the better the prize.

Also I don't know what the PvP was like before but if you could view other peoples' matches and wage and even chat in the audience that would be interesting.

About the prizes...

The prizes might be big, but winning things like 5star recipies are rare. If my idea gets implemented, I'm confident that Three Rings will set good RNGs, prices per activity and whatnot so that the Casino and the prize drops are nice and luck based.

Not only that, but they'll make it so that the more money you bet, the better prizes you get. It's not like you're gonna win loads of money every time. It's a place where you can win and lose at anytime. That's how gambling works. I'm sure that an in-game casino wouldn't hurt, as most of the players in Spiral Knights are adults.

Let's just think of the casino as a morale booster. A place to relax and unwind a bit while earning (and losing) a bit of cash.

Nevermind.

This idea would get derped up with the law, and raise the game's rating.

In the long run, it's not worth it. But something smaller like an ingame lottery or a wheel you can spin every day would be nice.

Mods, please let this thread die.

Sounded fun, but this would

Sounded fun, but this would not be good. People in college who are playing this game, might win big stuff on this, and take it into real life. Sounds fun, not fun. A wheel or lottery is fine though. I request that you change the name and your first post to a dot if the Gm's don't put this in the graveyard.
