Ok, I really just wanted Eurydice to get a smile....
Still, being able to push active, aggressive, zombies up to the top wall/corner and have them turn around and fall dormant is something that happens in lots of places in the game, not just the FSC. I've seen it in arenas, and I've not bothered the zombie until I was done with other monsters. It appears that OOO has placed zombies facing that way at various spots so that they had to be woken up by players. Any fix to fighting vanaduck would have an impact on the rest of the game.
So, is pushing zombies to the top corner really a just a technique?

Not necessarily. I'm going to assume that controlling the add waves is part of the fight because you could easily fix it with some scripting that just removes all the adds at the beginning of phase 5 so that the slag guards can spawn. This would require no reworking of the zombie AI behavior and wouldn't impact anything outside of phase 5.
