Why is Devilite level design so bad?
Ignoring the fact I have Fallen armor, I always hated these levels. Long passages full of nothing (which causes my not-so-stellar PC to lag a bit on these levels alone), then large rooms full of 15 Devilites and Pit Bosses, and more importantly, spikes. That's the worst part.
Why are there so many spikes in these rooms? Most of the time the Devilites will just camp on the spikes and since they dodge 90% of projectiles, you have no way of hitting them except for going on the spikes yourself or waiting until they go down. The problem with that is that there's only 1/2 squares of spikes down at any given time, meaning most of the room will be a spiky death trap.
I mean, all the other level types have traps, but they generally don't have 15+ enemies surrounding you with them. They also have more streamlined and fun level design. Clockwork Tunnels have some interesting trap rooms and gate puzzles, Aurora Isles (Best level set) have secrets, interesting rooms and sometimes different paths. Why do Devilite stages have to be so bland and annoying as opposed to fun and interesting?
Keep in mind I'm complaining about the stage design and not the enemies in question. They're annoying like they're supposed to be. It's just that the stage itself doesn't have to be annoying and drawn out as well just because someone felt like putting a million spikes in one room was fun.

I pretty much like all the other levels, for an example, I just started a tier 2 solo run, It starts with a wolver den. And I'm having a fun time, and then guess what pops up? A devilish drudgery. I love the JK levels, FSC, wolver den, aurora isles, etc etc, there all fun. And then...... devilish drudgery. ARGH I HATE THIS LEVEL. Its a death to soloing, and it's hard for even the best groups. I hate the design, the creatures, (I understand that the devilites arn't as bad as the design though.) I mean, devilites in another room wouldn't be so bad. But man, this sucks. CURSE THE DRUDGERY!!!

Personally I don't mind the stages but to each his own i guess, the devilites do appear to have a theme of being some sort of office workers in a cooperate setting. Perhaps a subtle(or not so settle joke from the developers?) Although now that I think about it we don't have much lore on these little guys. I mean the jellys have their mightly ruler the Jelly King, I guess the undead have Vanaduke, Gremlins have some lore about King Tinkinzar, Constructs will probably have that new boss, beasts have Snarbolax. We need to show some love to these poor guys
You should probably use a faster gun to shoot the devilites, the Devs already nerfed their speed to begin with.
Furthermore, if you can make them dodge into the spikes, then make them dodge out of the spikes with your gun.
Plus I find the Devilite levels rather enjoyable, the office worker theme makes me laugh every time I play that level, it always reminds me of the movie Office Space.
Get a piercing sword or piercing bomb and you're good to go.
Devilish Drudgery is fine. It's a slightly disguised 3rd stage arena, it's true, but, pit bosses camped on the spikes don't dodge shots, and other devilites that do dodge shots will dodge right off of the spikes and be in sword reach again.
Dark City is obnoxiously difficult, but certainly isn't boring in it's design. Claustrophobia inducing, perhaps, but not boring.

the lvls are fine, the devilites just need a sight SLIGHT damage reduction. It rancles me that i can solo to the core (1 death my best) but i can get mashed by depth 8 devilites? thats not balanced.

To shot Devilites with an piercing weapon ist personally the best way to finish em off. I'm talking about a gun. They will try to avoid your attacks, but if you know when to shot they will be unable to fell and unable to attack. If you shott em while they are charging and carry an object, they can not avoid your shot and also they will drop their chair or what ever they wanted to shot at you. So guns actually ARE the best option. You just have to know how to use them. Same for Wolver at high level. You can shot em if you know how.

If the Devilish Drudgery is the level that looks like a street, then I like the design.
The spikes sure are annoying, you have to watch your steps very carefuly... but the Devilites aren't impossible to kill (at least in T1, can't judge the higher Tiers though).
And yeah, the Aurora Isles levels look damn good! I realy like them.

i use a storm driver rather than a piercing gun, interupts the little buggers

Dunno about level design, for some reason I found devilites in one Clockworks level I played yesterday more annoying than in an actual devilite level. There were about 6 of the IT buggers along with two healing moths, and this was in about 2-3 small areas, each of which was separated by spikes which were up about 3/4 of the time. I think it's the devilites that are annoying, not the levels.
I think its suppose to be a stealth joke about how all corporate offices being similar, boring and soul crushing places.
