Ignoring the fact I have Fallen armor, I always hated these levels. Long passages full of nothing (which causes my not-so-stellar PC to lag a bit on these levels alone), then large rooms full of 15 Devilites and Pit Bosses, and more importantly, spikes. That's the worst part.
Why are there so many spikes in these rooms? Most of the time the Devilites will just camp on the spikes and since they dodge 90% of projectiles, you have no way of hitting them except for going on the spikes yourself or waiting until they go down. The problem with that is that there's only 1/2 squares of spikes down at any given time, meaning most of the room will be a spiky death trap.
I mean, all the other level types have traps, but they generally don't have 15+ enemies surrounding you with them. They also have more streamlined and fun level design. Clockwork Tunnels have some interesting trap rooms and gate puzzles, Aurora Isles (Best level set) have secrets, interesting rooms and sometimes different paths. Why do Devilite stages have to be so bland and annoying as opposed to fun and interesting?
Keep in mind I'm complaining about the stage design and not the enemies in question. They're annoying like they're supposed to be. It's just that the stage itself doesn't have to be annoying and drawn out as well just because someone felt like putting a million spikes in one room was fun.
I think its suppose to be a stealth joke about how all corporate offices being similar, boring and soul crushing places.
