Funky Brandish-Line Explosion Mechanics [Upgrading + Heat Level]

The other night, I was doing a few jelly runs with a friend and one of his friends tagged along. This friend pointed out that my Silent Nightblade exploded twice often. Quite simply, I thought it was supposed to always explode twice, because that is what mine does. Always. When he used his charge, he literally never got two explosions. We sat in at the end of a level for two or three minutes charge attacking, and he never got 2 explosions, whereas I always did.

The only difference we could actually find between the two swords was the level they were upgraded into Silents. I had leveled my swords to 10-Heat both times before upgrading, whereas he had made it, upgraded it, then only got it to 5-heat before getting it to Silent.

I guess I am trying to find out if previous leveling effects later items. Everything I have read has said no, but this seems to suggest otherwise. I would do the testing myself, but since I am still <2 weeks of playtime, I don't really have the funds available to throw 800 energy just to find out.

Hmm

You always get two explosions? As far as I knew it was random and you could get 1, 2, or 3.
I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to redo these tests with your friend in training hall, having each do at least 50 charge attacks.
And make sure both you and your friend have the sword at the same level.

What level of Silent

What level of Silent Nightblade does he have now? I noticed that my Avenger at level 10 seems to fire projectiles that travels further than the Avenger in lower levels. I am not too sure about this, I could be near to a wall or something.

each lvl (*) increases the

each lvl (*) increases the number of explosions you can get.

My combuster (5*) always does 2-3 explosions. Most times its 3 though.

when my sword was 4* i would get 1-2 explosions.

Not sure if that helps any though lol.

Same problem with the 5* versions

Actually several guildies and myself noticed this problem a month ago. We don't know the cause exactly, but there's definitely a bug in the charge animations that causes even maximum level 5* Brandishes to only produce 1-2 explosions, never 3. We discovered this bug after seeing an Acheron user using a 3-charge explosion several times in succession, whereas the two other Acheron users in the same party have never been able to pull off more than two despite over a week of use.

After submitting a support ticket, Poseidon confirmed that despite the charge attacks not fully showing up on some players' weapons (inexplicably, it doesn't affect everyone), he says the weapons are using the same code, therefore highly unlikely different weapons are performing different charges. He also adds that it's "more a visual thing, not an actual advantage/disadvantage".

It does make some degree of sense- if you notice when only 1 explosion occurrs on the 5* Brandishes, it's always set at a different distance from you (especially when it's two tiles away, hinting that the first two explosions did happen, but just don't show up visually).

Still, can't help but feel a little cheated when we aren't rewarded with the full visual effect with the weapons we worked hard to get :(

Could it be related to

Could it be related to UVs?

My Silent Nightblade does 0-1 explosions just like a 3* Nightblade. It has ASI Medium.

Unique Variant issue?

Could it be related to UVs?

It wasn't a UV issue as far as we could tell. One of my guildies has a UV on his Acheron (not going to pretend I remember what it was, but prolly doesn't matter) and still manages to produce the 3-explosion charge frequently.

Every new star adds a new

Every new star adds a new explosion. Nightblade always has 1, Silent Nightade always has 2, and Archeon always has 3. HOWEVER, iyou do not give yourself enoguh room/you charge through an obstruction then the amount of explosions will stop as it hits the wall. This happens all the time in Clockwork terminals and rest areas because there are a lot of spots that obstruct your charge. Best place to test it out is a wide open area, such as the Jelly Palace.

In all seriousness, this isn't bugged. It's ALWAYS a personal problem. Heat levels have nothing to do with it either. Just the enviornment around you.

No, you don't always get 3

No, you don't always get 3 even with a level 10 acheron. The majority of the time you do, but even in a wide open room all by yourself you may get 1-2. When you do get less than 3 they appear in slightly different places than they would if there were 3. My guess is it is a genuine bug.

Yeah..i haven had a problem

Yeah..i haven had a problem either.
But I do know certain bugs affect certain people and not others.
For example, a persons shield being perma broke bug never affected me but it affected other guildies :3

I was testing it a while back

I was testing it a while back because I thought I was just imagining it not working when actually fighting. Found a nice big room and let off about a dozen charge attacks. Thought I was crazy, then it finally missed an explosion... then another... then 2... Maybe 1/10 will miss for me. Don't think it has ever completely failed. Not a huge problem, but annoying at times.

I recently upgrade my

I recently upgrade my Nightblade to Silent Nightblade, and I found that I have the same problem. Even though I upgraded it to lv10, I always get one explosion. The place where the explosion take place is also kind of strange, the explosion either take place right in front of me where it should be, or where the second explosion is. When I charge, there is always a bit delay between the slash and the explosion, I am not sure if this is lag or what but when other people charge their Silent Nightblade, the 2nd explosion come right after the 1st explosion and the 1st explosion come right after the slash without any delay.
I have a friend with Blazebrand (not Silent Nightblade but one of the other alchemy lines) and he also can only do 1 explosion with it.

3* has 1 explosion (no

3* has 1 explosion (no explosion before lv 5)
4* has 2 explosion (1 explosion before lv 5)
5* has 3 explsion (1~2 explosion before lv 5)

That's what I observed anyhow. Not sure if the level you upgraded with matters since the end result is just the same script..so I don't think it matters in terms of actual weapon.

Wait, the 5* brandishes have

Wait, the 5* brandishes have 3 explosions?!

I rarely get 2, let alone 3; never seen 3 in a row.
