i have an older laptop (dell latitude D600) and can't run the game. here is the sequence of events:

installed game (on steam)
patched successfully
started game, created new character
started training level, got about 2/3 of the way (until lizards appear)

at that point, even though the game was running in windowed mode, the entire screen went black and the pc wouldn't respond to anything. it was still "alive" (hard drive activity light, caps-lock light went on when key pressed, etc.) but the display was stuck

i had to powercycle to reboot and tried again, same result. i tried the following with no improvement or change:

checked video drivers (i have the latest for radeon mobility 9000)
closed all other other programs
turned off steam in-game overlay
no antivirus

can you gve me some tips on what i can do to fix this or at least track down what the problem might be?

thanks

Check the spiral knights

Check the spiral knights folder and see if theres any files named something like pid####.log. Thats the games crash log.

You probably also had a device crash, so checking the Windows Event viewer to see if it managed to log anything in the System section.

Also, as an FYI, the game does have a lot of issues with ATI cards due to driver problems. Still trying to find a reliable workaround until some kind of fix can be found.

unfortunately, there is no

unfortunately, there is no process id log because the game process doesn't actually end, it just breaks the display until i reboot the pc. and good idea about event viewer, but nothing was in there either.

ok so i tried going to sleep

ok so i tried going to sleep mode (special key on keyboard) and then waking up to restart the display while the game is running, and i got this:

what's strange is the game worked fine during the tutorial crash site level (at least the first half). maybe it's running out of graphic memory or something? is there a way to fix it?

Assuming a couple things,

Assuming a couple things, unless your RAM is under 512MB, you should meet the requirements (barely).

And getting 403 error on that link.
