Riceofdeath

Hello players of SpiralKnights!
I am Riceofdeath and I am getting really bored of this game.
So thats why i want YOU to recommend some really fun games i can play over the summer. If you win, you will be rewarded 5,000 CE. PLUS, if i end up loving that game and staying there, the winner will he given an ADDITIONAL 5,000 CE.

Here are the rules:
Only 1 game title per player
Repeating titles are not allowed
Please give me the type of the game (ex. FPS, MMORPG)

That is all.
Ps. I am a huge fan of mmorpg's and fps. However, if you think a game is worth trying, do share :)
Although i do prefer a free to play game, paid can also work

EDIT: This contest is now OVER! Thank you for all the participants and i will TRY to give every game here a fair chance. But of course, there's a lot, so it may take some time. Winner will be announced on this thread and messaged ingame to follow up with the trade.

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME AND CONTRIBUTION!

EDIT:
After lots of reading of reviews, youtubing gameplay videos and trailers, researching features and downloading dozens of gigabytes of memory, I have finally chosen a game.

The WINNER of the "Rice's Game Recommendation Contest" is Reactions for suggesting the game LEAGUE OF LEGENDS. I will contact you ingame via mail and reward you with your prize :)

Why did i choose this game?
It was very easy to pick up, although the items are a little complicated to understand. There are a lot of different champions to play with all very unique playstyles. I love the art put into this game and how refined everything is. I was very surprised to find it completely F2P, with almost no unfair advantages to paying players. This game requires teamwork and skill, and lots of practice. Every game feels different from the previous, and it seems to always surprise me. I strongly recommend this game. Once again, thank you all for participating! I hope this thread will be useful to other players who wish to try new games as well!

Additional information: - Games that are worth trying -

Team Fortress 2 (now F2P)
Vindictus
Dragon Nest (OB @ end of july)

MMO I use to play a lot in the past. The big official one is monthly subscriptions but I played on private servers that jack up the leveling rates a little so you don't have to grind nearly as long and free.

I'm not good with short terms, here's a go---

Poptropica - click around to move and solve mysteries moving your character and going on different islands.

Boxhead - FPS

Oilrush - The game is a self-described naval real time strategy with stunning graphics and an interesting take on the original RTS feel with the majority of gameplay taking place over water. (by OMGubuntu, should work on windows)

Trine (1&2? )- Very fun MMO(?)RPG, here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgFxIopLANU

Tooncar- not just racing, you have pickups.

FrogyFrenzy 2- different levels, you have to get some amount of keys and free your gf

Snapshot- in the works, http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/03/indie-puzzle-game-snapshot-has-linux-...

Worldofgoo- you put stickies in some shape so they get to the otherside

Revenge of the titans- Like baloons fortress, but different fortresses and enemies.

Angrybirds - self explanatory (on via Google Chrome webstore) (RPG?)

Sorry that I am not good with short terms... I'm a gamer n00b

If you need more games, just hit me up.

Runescape

Yes, most people know about this game I think its MMORPG (Honestly I am not a huge gamer and dont really know what type of game is what I just play). Regardless, Runescape is a pretty complex game in the sense you have a huge variety of skills in the game, and each skill is-inter-connected with one another for example:

To train you need food to heal yourself: (Lets say you dont cook with a stove and you like to kill cows starting off in the game)

Kill the Cow --- Combat training
Cut the wood --- Woodcutting
Make a fire --- Firemaking
Cook the food --- Cooking

(Or you can just buy the food with money (In game currency one type).

You can not "buy your way to stardom in the game and be the best" (You can, but you may get scammed etc.)

Reason why Rs is pretty good?

Clan World (Most players do not even know about this)

Runescape has a HUGE clan world for skillers and pvp players. Many different type of clans are in Rs you have F2p Clans, P2p Clans, Community Clans, and Skilling Clans. Each clan has its own requirements starting out you will not be able to be in NONE, but once you get your combat level up some cash you can be in a pretty good pvp clan if your into pvp. They do intense battles if your into that type of thing and well you make cash if you are a good player and dont die much.

Well if you want to know more let me know.

Play Epic Mafia. It's a real-time, chat based puzzle game that is playable with up to 25 people. You are assigned a role and work together with your faction to either take back or take over the village.

It is a browser game as well so all you have to do is follow the URL and sign up! I still spend tons of time organizing games of this with my friends when we have the free time. It's a great game of wits and really makes you use your brain!

Try Magicka.
It's on sale on steam for like six bucks and it's stupid fun with friends or even just random pugs.
The game doesn't really fit RPG or MMO but it's kind of a cross between the two. No gear hoarding, no level grinding, just a couple hours of L2P and you get to play a bro-wizard.

It's for sale on steam. It's a really great team-based FPS with a tower defense concept to it, and 9 different classes.

At the moment it costs $7.49 and it usually costs $14.99. There are many summer sales on steam at the moment. I highly recommend you buy this game while it's price is low. I played it and I loved it.

Well the guy who mentioned

Well the guy who mentioned Team Fortress 2 kind of failed to mention that the game is Free to play.... Kind of a big deal
So I'm going to mention it.

and ugh runescape.

I'll stick with my recommendation of Ragnarok Online.

Class based mmo with 12 classes I think. Most of them have "reborns" which means they have a second stage.

Also most Ragnarok servers have a guild war events called War of Emperium where guilds fight for special privileges to guildhalls. This game can take quite a bit of grinding, not as much as Runescape, but it depends on where you play it. The game is way faster paced though, unless Runescape completely revamped itself from four years ago which I highly doubt.

IMO after transitioning to Ragnarok from Runescape a long time ago, Runescape is just so boring. Although I haven't kept track of either game in 4+ years.

EDIT:
The official Ragnarok is now FREE apparently. Also they've implemented a third level of classes.

How about a racer, just to be different?

Trackmania Nations Forever is a free game. Not Free-to-Play, not freemium, but free in the truest sense of the word. (Another download here if Steam isn't your thing)

Almost everything is time trial based. There's a decent amount of content to keep you going for a week or two in the game, but the real joy is the online mode. Plug into any server and voila! New tracks and real time competition with anyone in the world. There's a huge community with tracks available for download, or you can make your own to share with the track editor.

I'd have liked you to the actual Trackmania site, but the original site has since been taken down with the pending arrival of Trackmania 2. I doubt it will cause the players in TMNF to decrease since it is not slated as a free title. Nations was only release after several paid versions of Trackmania (Now Trackmania United Forever).

You like Tactics RPGs? Give yourself a chance to fall in love with Disgaea (for the PS2, PSP and DS). It's got a gripping story, an ADDICTIVE gameplay (there's about a billion optional side things to occupy you), and most of all it's both cute and hysterical while still being a serious challenge for people of every skill level. :O

This isn't exactly your typical action-adventure title, but it's a really intriguing, amazing PS2 game.

It's called Shadow of the Colossus and it's an action-adventure(-puzzle) game, there's some very accurate information on Wikipedia if you're really interested.

You play as a young male called "Wander" who has set out on a quest to revive a girl named "Mono", the whole story revolves around the task of bringing Mono back to life. Wander comes across a huge peninsula called the "forbidden land" in which he encounters a large temple called the Shrine of Worship, in this shrine he finds a shaman called Lord Emon, he is portrayed as having extensive knowledge regarding the containment of Dormin, and the ability to use powerful magic.

The game is unusual within the action-adventure genre in that there are no towns or dungeons to explore, no characters with which to interact, and no enemies to defeat other than the colossi; 16 massive beings scattered across the "forbidden land" which must be defeated to unlock Dormin's power, Dormin is a mysterious entity with the power to revive the dead which is why Wander seeks his aid.

You must travel across a variety of landscapes and environments to find each colossi by using your magical sword to help point you in the direction of your next battle. When each colossi is defeated, you are returned to the central point of the forbidden land known as the "Shrine of Worship" in which you set out to find the next colossi. When each of the 16 colossi have been deafeated, Dormin's power can be unleashed allowing Wander to fulfil his quest.

It has a pretty dark, grungy graphic style and has a really good sense of immersion and emotion, even though it has hardly any speech.

To conclude, I'd be really stoked if you checked out this game, it's very unique and easily one of my favourite games of all time.

Thanks for reading,
Razorlined.

League of Legends

Hey!
You should try League of Legends. It's a free game, based on the Warcraft 3 Custom Map DotA. It's one of the most played online games at the moment, and it is completely free to play. You don't have to buy anything, but you can use money to buy skins and such for your champions. The game is kind of a MMO but is kind of not. I'll explain why.
Firstly, a basic introduction to the DotA game-type.
You have one main map, which is the 5v5 map. The map is divided into 3 lanes, where small minions from each team keep walking towards each other, fighting to get the other turret in the lane. Between the lanes are jungle camps, which consist of a few neutral minions you can kill for gold and XP.

Every match lasts for about 20 to 60 minutes. You pick one champion every match and start at level 1. You then kill minions in your lane to get gold and XP. You'll always try to kill the other champions on the other team but this is harder and usually happens later in the game. When you get low HP you go back to your base and buy equipment. Later in the game team fights occur, where each team tries to kill as many champions on the other team as possible.
When one team kills the other teams main base (Nexus) or a team surrenders the match is over.

Here comes the MMO aspect of the game. After completing a game you get XP and Influence Points. Influence Points is the game's in-game "currency", which cannot be bought for irl money. You gain more IP and XP for winning. You can use IP for a various things. The main thing is buying new champions. Every week there's a new free champion rotation so people can try out champions but you will eventually have to buy a champion you like (for in-game currency). You can also use IP to buy Runes, which are small stat boosts. These are mainly important at high level of the game, where everyone got full runesets.

XP is used to level up your user. The max level is 30, and level does not really have much to say. It's used for matchmaking and unlocking slots that can be used for small stat boosts (Runes and Masteries).
The game is highly competitive but also very relaxing and fun.
It's a game that can be played alone, even though playing with your friends can be even funnier.

There's also a 3v3 map, which is a bit smaller.
The game is constantly updated by a pretty big dev team and there's new patches and champions almost every other week.
I've played this game for countless hours and I still enjoy it. It can be extremely frustrating and times but very rewarding too.

The game itself is playable on most PC's, and even cheap/old laptops can play it.

If you've bothered reading this far, I have a few more things to add:
- This game does NOT feel free to play. I've never seen a such refined free game ever.
- The servers are divided into EU and US. I have accounts on both and if you choose my game I'd more than happily play a few games with you so you understand how things work.
- Gameplay videos are found everywhere on Youtube and you can watch live player streams on Own3d.tv (website).

When you reach level 30 (doesn't take too long) you will be able to compete in ranked games to reach #1 on the ladder. This is not forced at all, and you might as well play normal games if you just play for fun :)

Register Link

If you wish to register on my referral link (no difference, but I get a small boost from it), you can do so here.

Make sure to choose the correct region (EU/US)!

if you're looking for something with a little more grind and depth in a f2p mmorpg, try eden eternal. its like WoW but more anime. its VERY flashy and over the top in some situations and unlike wow, the spells are fun to use. it does feature quite a bit of grinding but for fans of mmorpg's its nothing we're not used to.

its still in open beta so its constantly growing, evolving and changing but the fanbase is already fairly large and its only going to get better.

In a way like Spiral Knights, but you play preset characters and progress a prevalent storyline through many stages. Really easy to get into.

Characters are somewhat custom in what skills you choose and some armor. Character/class lock doesn't really bother anyone. It adds to the Arcade Brawler feel (it even has a combo counter!)

btw, you can use Prepaid credit cards on Steam. I think you just have to input a new one whenever the current card runs out.

I recommend "Shattered

I recommend "Shattered Galaxy", an MMORTS originally by Nexon, now run by KRU Interactive (which split off from Nexon.)

It is free to play, though it has an option for paid accounts, which have a higher per-attribute stat cap (120 instead of 100) and the ability to take part in 'Reincarnation' events that allow them to reset to level 1, but with additional attribute points.

The game has two servers, one for low level players (Relic) and one for high-level players (Morganna Prime). Morganna Prime is much less forgiving, as many players there have taken part in numerous reincarnation events and are extremely powerful. To avoid going to MP, it is recommended that you try making a 'sys21' character, as described in this guide: http://unitedlegionsg.lefora.com/2008/03/24/sys21/

If you decide to give Shattered Galaxy a try, send me an email in SK, to my character "Volkai", and I will do what I can to help you get started.

Killing Floor. You like

Killing Floor. You like zombies? You know you do. Like guns? You better. Like katanas, fire axes, crossbows, pipe bombs, flamethrowers, and lots of gore? Then you like Killing Floor. Premise is simple: kill and survive. Available on steam for $20 and worth every last penny. This game is what Left 4 Dead should have been like and it doesnt cost $60. Join a server, kill zombies, buy guns, level up perks, and try to kill the Patriarch, if you can get that far. This isnt "zombie fun time for kids" this is "zombie death time for men". It takes a person with a keyboard to play the game, it takes a man with balls of steel to beat it.

Bloodline Champions

I know the contest is over, but Bloodline Champions is a pretty fun free to play PVP game. It's kind of like DOTA without the creeps in it and more of a capture the flag/arena feel.

They rotate through a set of 4 free to play champions every week (I think there are around 20 champions total). If you really like a particular champion, you can buy them with real money or with coins that you earn in the game.

It reminds me of PVP in WoW if everyone had equal gear and things were actually balanced around PVP.
