When it is upgraded does the range on the thorns increase? The 2* range seems too short to really be practical.

umm. the 5 star "Barbarous thorn blade" is just shy of hitting the scuttle-bots in the upper-left of the advanced training.

That is to say, if you charge and release against those bots, you will come juuuuuuust barely outside their range, but never hit them.

Thanks. That's exactly the same as the 2*. Was hoping it had a little extra to help with fiends. I never really use my flourishes charge and was thinking of replacing it. May go for it anyways.

Final Flourish = Highest DPS

Final Flourish = Highest DPS piercing sword
Furious Flamberge = Inflicts Fire
Barbarous Thorn Blade = Short-ranged charge attack

If you compare the damage they do, Flourish deals the most, flamberge and thorn blade equal, but have their respective bonuses.

Of course, the main drawback for Barbarous Thorn Blade is the difficulty in aquiring a UV.

Barbarous Thorn Blade !=

Barbarous Thorn Blade != Furious Flamberge
Furious flamberge
Final Flourish
Barbarous Thorn Blade

The Final Flourish and Barbarous Thorn Blade have equivalent damage on normal attacks, the only difference between the two is the charge attack. The Final Flourish charge attack is notoriously strong, but the Barbarous Thorn Blade charge attack is no slouch. The fan of Snarby spikes works well against groups and The Snarby itself does damage if an enemy is close enough (plus a handful of spikes).

The flourishes charge is

The flourishes charge is strong but it doesn't really do a useful effect and you could do more damage in the same time without it. I mainly use my flourish against fiends and beasts so being vulnerable for that long while charging, getting in close without a shield, and then letting the charge combo go is not a good idea and a few normal hits will down them anyways. The charge is usually overkill.

The main drawback is the lack of a UV, but then again vs fiends and beasts you don't really need it.
