I am not a computer expert so I want to ask you this question: In the size menu in Settings, there is the list of sizes and theres a 50 bit/59 bit on the side of it. Which one should I use? Will it alter game performance if I choose the wrong one?
50 bits or 59 bits?
main menu-options-general tab-display mode
It goes horizontal pixels, vertical pixels, color depth (bits) and then refresh rate (hertz).
My only available options for color depth is 32bit and refresh rate of 60hz. I'm not sure where your 50 vs. 59 is coming in.
It could be a PAL compatible TV monitor. I know for a fact that some low - mid range monitors (and low end video cards) will limit to lower refresh rates when using higher resolutions in order to compensate for the slower hardware.
In the case of TV monitors, they also support the proper NTSC or PAL refresh rates for home theater setups.
Sorry, I mistook hertz as bits. I think the refresh rate varies with each computer. Anyways, I have two of the refresh rate options, 59 and 50, how do I choose which one I use and does choosing the wrong one cause any problems?
Ah, I had a post but I forgot to click after preview!
Yeah that's vertical refresh rate you're seeing there. Judging by the values you're using a TV as a monitor.
It won't make a huge world of difference between 50 or 59 Hz refresh rate. If the game is running below 50 frames a second there will be no perceivable gameplay difference. I would personally default to the higher value since lower refresh rates can bug out my eyes and the time gap between screen refreshes can be very noticeable for me.
So there is no "wrong" value that will cause problems. It's just how fast your screen will redraw the images in refreshes per second. This is not the same as frames rendered per second, which remains independent and bound to the performance level of your GPU.
I am not using a TV, I am using a Laptop.
Whats the model of the lap, and if you had a choice, what type/size screen did you pick?
Mine is Sony Vaio, the exact model I don't know. I choose the 1366x768x32 one (for the computer) and 1280x720x32 (for the game).
In what...?
