This player might ask you to be his/her "virtual bf" and soon afterward, insinuate you give him/her stuff. I find this behavior to be somewhat reprehensible, especially since there have been multiple instances of this behavior, and thus decided to warn other players.

Note: this post has been edited because the previous sounded confrontational.

Tsk tsk

Bad-mouthing other players on the forums is a no-no, regardless of their actions.
You may want to warn others, but this is not the way to do it.

Well if you agree to be their

Well if you agree to be their e-significant other then I suppose that comes with its own costs.

Eeks you still owe me for

Eeks you still owe me for child support. I need energy so I can provide for our little Knight. >:(

the news will release

the news will release information about someone, including name, address, sex, hight, even a sketch so they can be caught. the fbi has a top list of wanted people.

not sure why we should protect people online when they do things such as this (I would consider this harassment, but even then /ignore could have fixed it).

the OP is cautioning people about said person. they are not going about it in a trolling manor.

It's because Name-and-Shame

It's because Name-and-Shame threads are against forum rules, even if the player in question really is guilty of wrongdoing.

The original post can get the warning across just fine without the names, instead cautioning people to beware "people" who go around asking to be people's e-girlfriends and promptly start gold-digging them.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

Thanks for the heads up, OP. I'm not sure why so many people in this thread are backseat moderating.

They're backseat moderating

They're backseat moderating so that the OP can fix the post before being punished/warned by the actual mods, as the post breaks forum rules. :(

It's like telling someone to stop throwing rocks at windows before the cops show up. (But a lot less severe, naturally.)

The OP was calm enough to edit it once to reduce confrontational-ness, so hopefully he'll be willing to remove the name too.

I mean, the perpetrator can easily just make new characters with new names anyway. It's the behavior you need to watch out for, and that's already described in detail in the post.

Please read the rules.

Hello. The Spiral Knights Forums isn't for making personal attacks against other players. If you have a problem with another player, please sort it out yourself. If the other player refuses to stop bothering you, file a complaint or ignore them.

Its not a personal attack (as

Its not a personal attack (as far as I can tell it WAS though) its a warning to not engage in this behavior without realizing the risks. Sure there's a username in there but now we'll be better off if we encounter this player.

Also as a heads up... Plenty of people with the word "girl" in their name probably aren't girls and are looking to do this specifically. Here's a tip, if they're in all proto gear its a safe bet that this may happen.

Gung, there are no and never

Gung, there are no and never were any girls on the internet except in pr0n. So this is kinda stupid and anyone who fell for it got what they deserve.

On a related note my sister tried her hand at the game on a new character (Though she was still using my account), took the tailed helm... Some dude in a Wolver coat hands her a Brandish after her first successful Tier 1 run! dsafsfdsafasdfads

I don't even know how to

I don't even know how to respond to mejezfield's statement. Anyway why does the tailed helm automatically make you a girl? I never understood that. Anytime someone talks about Kozma its always "she" when IIRC we don't even know the gender of anyone. But really I feel bad for people who fall for something like this, its just kind of odd.

Alright I wasn't sure about

Alright I wasn't sure about that since its never mentioned after the beginning of the game (I think) so thanks for clearing that up. But really the helm automatically makes you a girl... Its weird really, its a helmet not a dress
