''You have crashed. You are stranded. But you are not alone.

The Spiral Knights have awoken on an unknown world. Their equipment stores have been raided and their starship, The Skylark, will not recover from the crash. But all is not lost. Taking refuge in a town called Haven they have begun a new mission.

As a Spiral Knight, you must delve deep below the surface of the world into the mechanical labyrinth known as The Clockworks. This colossal complex of turning gears and unnatural machinery is filled with massive slabs of alien worlds and home to a legion of terrible monsters. This great machine is in constant motion and is always changing the worlds it creates. An exciting adventure awaits that will take you to the planet's very core, where the Spiral Knights will discover the purpose of The Clockworks and who or what created it.''

Wouldn't it be great to see the Skylark someday? =)

On that note

This makes me think: Provided the "World" isn't limited simply to Haven, there will need to be things to do in different parts of the world that necessitate the need to go there, beyond just vendors and additional gates.

Any word on what's in the work re: quests/story content/non-combat game mechanics?

I was playing Hellfire yesterday, actually.

I was thinking about this before, it seemed pretty cool to me.

An arcade styled vertical shooter mini-game called Skylark, that played kind of like Hellfire and Ikaruga combined.

Your ship has four different cyclable attack patterns, one for each damage type and some enemies will be resistant or immune to certain damage.

So your normal attack would be a straight shot, your elemental attack might be a mid range attack that left a space in front of you that acts like a blind spot, your piercing attack would be like long range homing missiles and your shadow attack would be lasers that flew out diagonally then circled back in, like a helix.
The ship would change colour to match the type of attack you're doing.
A depending on it's colour would be resistant/immune to certain attacks of the same type as well.

That would be the coolest mini-game ever, next to Monkey Football from Ape Escape 2.
And if you've ever played Monkey Football, that was more entertaining than the actual game itself.

That sounds kinda like Radiant Silvergun too, Shoebox. Plus the four elemental weapons thing would conveniently apply to the four buttons of a normal gamepad (and in console STG fashion, the bomb if there would be one would probably be on a shoulder button).

Still, I'd totally wanna play it. I'm a sucker for STGs.

Maybe they could open more teirs for battle

Maybe they could open more teirs for battle in the skylark, like maybe open it up as another base of operations (much like haven) but for more advanced players and grant access to tier 4 with new improved 5 star gear available
