Who here loves coffee as much as I do? ...Nobody, that's who! But to those of you who THINK you're at least close to my zen-state of coffee zeal, let's take a moment to discuss it's wonders and euphoric salvation, shall we?
I can't do without coffee. Simple as that. It's a heartfelt, willing addiction-- coffee and I share a complicated and almost masochistic romance. Sweets and whatever give me hives; I can't eat anything like cookies or pastries or cake or candy or whatever or I wig out, it's painfully terrible (not to mention terribly painful), but the deep, bitter, captivating pull of the coffee's flavor and scent is quite simply proof that there is a God, it's that perfect. I lose myself in another world with each and every sip; I leave behind my identity for a while and bask in the glory of the portal to the coffee world, soaking in its benevolent warmth and comfort.
I am hypersensitive to touch, noise and light in RL. My thoughts perpetually race so fast I can't keep up with them or even see straight; it's agony for me when it's sunny outside, even if I'm indoors and all the windows are closed, I react to the sun simply existing in the sky and it cripples me from even walking upright. Coffee, as you guessed, helps protect me from this barrier. It doesn't slow my thoughts down, far from it; it actually speeds the REST of me up so I can keep up with my own raging torrent of thoughts a bit better. Doesn't connect the cap, but it shortens the distance considerably; the agonizing buzz inside my skull dims to a gentle hum, which is certainly tolerable. Coffee is therapeutic in that way. I can't even sleep without coffee in my system (and I have to plan for that, since too much will prevent me from sleeping as easily as having not enough). The soft blankets and bedsheets STING my skin unless there's that natural caffeine to buffer my sensory inputs.
And that's another thing. I can't handle energy drinks. They BREAK me. So coffee isn't even about the caffeine; it's about the fact that it's friggin' coffee. ^^ Tea works kinda like coffee, and sometimes I'll have a tea instead, but the beneficial effect is about half as good. There are times when tea is more strategic to have instead of coffee. During these times, though, I sometimes have coffee anyway and screw the consequences. XD
And I use a French Press to make my coffee, thank you! None of that machine bullhonky. The Press takes more effort to make the coffee; you can't just press a button and sit back, you have to monitor it and tend to it a couple times to get all the steps right. But, that's a good thing. For one it makes better-tasting coffee (unless you fail hard), second it's just more satisfying. My Press is way old because I've used it so much, so sometimes some of the grounds get in the bottom of the cup. I've taken to drinking them with the rest of the mug, even though that's a bit extreme; the way I see it, it's like the difference in orange juice, how the store stuff takes out all the pulp, while the fresh stuff leaves it in. Only, it's coffee-flavored.
I had coffee before I wrote this post. Can you tell?? :D
So that pretty much wraps up my ramble! Would anyone else care to share? Since "coffee" is not too broad a concept, feel free to just talk about how YOU relax in this thread, whether or not coffee is even involved. :3 I'm not gonna judge you if you hate the stuff. Laugh at you, maybe, but not judge. Laughter is a healthy habit, almost as healthy as coffee. ^.^
I rarely drink caffeine products =0 unless I am making drinks (Rum and Coke) etc. So I dislike coffee but its okay we can still be friends YAY
