You can't solely listen to others, you need to always try weapons out for yourself and see if they're right for you. The Spur has a great weapon line in my opininion. It does have its problems with the Winmillion though, first that it doesn't go beyond 4* and secondly in tier 3 Wolvers will teleport behind you when the projectiles are shot at them. The Spur itself can definitely help you out long enough to get a Sealed Sword though.

As for gear, unless you're doing something very specific then anything will work out as long as its got a powerful 4* or 5* upgrade to it. If you're asking where you should upgrade your Elemental items then I'd probably go with the Divine series although it has no Normal defense which may be an issue (although plenty of shields can protect from Normal defense) if you want to swap out your Great Defender then give thought to the Bristling Buckler. Both of their 5* upgrades have similar stats (The Thorn Shield has a bit less Piercing defense and a slight amount less Normal defense) but the Thorn Shield also gives you a Sword attack damage bonus which is nice to have.
