But the Leviathan only does

But the Leviathan only does regular damage AND it doesn't have a projectile launching charge attack
Most people would say which one is better because they used it and not the other one, but I have to say Divine Avenger is better in all situations
EXCEPT when your fighting beasts and gremlins.

vermilion its that very

vermilion its that very reason DA sucks those monsters resistant to elemental damage makes it less useful plus its slow 2 hit combo makes it less useful than the balanced levi blade

"those monsters resistant to

"those monsters resistant to elemental damage"
Yes I quite know that, but I ALWAYS carry another damage-type inducing weapon, so in case if I run into them, switch for another weapon, and there we go
Yes, I actually am trying to get a damage-inducing weapon (AKA Piercing, Elemental, & Shadow,) and here's my list:

Note: This DOES NOT include weapons such as a Leviathan or CIV since they deal regular damage, and I don't usually use bombs so I would normally stick to a bomb like the Nitronome.

Piercing Sword: Barbarous Thorn Blade
Piercing Gun: Antigua series OR the Callahan
Piercing Bomb: Dark Briar Barrage

Elemental Sword: Divine Avenger OR Glacius/Combuster
Elemental Gun: Argent Peacemaker OR Polaris
Elemental Bomb: Shivermist Buster

Shadow Sword: Archeron OR the Grand Faust
Shadow Gun: Sentenza, Biohazard OR the Umbra Driver
Shadow Bomb: Graviton Vortex

This is just a list of weapons I would use for the certain situations/enemies I face, you may not agree with me and that's just fine...

Really a better question is

Really a better question is do you prefer 2 swing swords or 3 swing swords?

Because when it gets right down to it which is "better" is dependent on your play style. I'd personally take the leviathan blade any day over the DA, but that's because I'm not as skilled with heavy swords, but you might find that a 2 swing sword is more your thing, in which case you'd be happier with a DA or GF.

Best is to use both:

Best is to use both: Leviathan is truly balanced, you can use it against anyone. But you might find its knockback not proper against some mobs, which is why you can try using a greatsword such as Divine Avenger, which is BTW very useful I find in Firestorm citadel levels, and generally against all kind of undeads.

If you are only going to

If you are only going to carry one sword your safe bet would be the Leviathan.

@monkeyman135

Normal and normal? I guess that works.

@OneDollar
To be completely honest, you should look into rounding out your arsenal with weapons that deal many different kinds of damage: elemental, piercing, and shadow. While normal is a good coverall, it is just as the name implies: normal. In Tiers 1 and 2 this will take you pretty far, but even in the later sections of Tier 2 you would benefit from weapons that fit the current stratum. Having weapons effective against all possible types of enemies and switching your loadout at each town/terminal will make you a more desirable party member and will make each expedition much easier. It might be more expensive to specialize, but it definitely pays off.

Leviathan is great to use in

Leviathan is great to use in confined spaces. In larger spaces it takes some skill and practice to use or you're going to be knocking mobs all over the place and your DPS will be pretty bad. The charge attack has a huge knockback and if you are able to position a mob against other mobs, a wall, in a corner, or frozen in ice it will do significantly more DPS than DA, even against mobs weak to elemental. The large charge knockback helps greatly with positioning mobs like this, although there are some mob types that move too quickly to easily trap without ice.

Using a leviathan is mostly about effective use of the charge attack; while you may occasionally use the normal swinging attack it shouldn't be your primary option, at least once you hit T3. CTR on your leviathan should be a priority.

-----------

DA is great to use in open spaces. The first swing knockbacks just enough so that most mobs can't retaliate, and its charge attack is one of the few ranged sword attacks in the game. It's fairly easy to use and doesn't require special positioning; just swing away and you'll kill stuff. Its main advantage is that it does very high DPS to undead/mecha, but it's terrible against beast/gremlin so you'll need to carry more than one sword (which generally requires buying another weapon slot).

Using DA is mostly about swinging once (sometimes twice) and getting out before the mob retaliates. You won't use the charge attack very often, partly because it's incredibly hard to get any kind of UV, partly because it's rather buggy and won't work sometimes, and partly because it doesn't actually do a lot of damage.

I would always go with DA

I would always go with DA over Levi any day. Charge attack is god mode, destroys the Levi completely. There's no reason to ever get a Levi unless you only use one sword ever. Much better to have an elemental and a shadow, or elemental and piercing.
