I manually uninstalled SK and java and installed 64 bit java, then SK, but the process is still called java.exe *32. What am I missing?
Game isn't using 64 bit java.

If using the version from
If using the version from this site you need to make sure that the shortcut is directed at the 64-bit Java installation. Usually that just entails removing the "(x86)" from the shortcut path when using default installations.

Shows you how to select which Java runtime the system will use on Mac. If your missing the 64-bit, you can obtain it through the OSX software updater.
If your using the Steam version, it includes its own local java package as part of the install. You can copy the 64-bit binaries from the system into the java_vm folder of the Spiral Knights install location to get it to run...... but due to a conflict, you need to disable Steam community (aka Steam overlay) for the game or it won't launch.
