Is it still profitable? Is something else more profitable now? About how much can be made from a run now? Basically what I'm asking is, is it still possible to play solely using crowns, and is it much more of a grind.

I believe now fsc is the only really profitable spot... Do all but vana and you'll make like 7k cr.
No where else tops 5k tho, unless you string out arenas and wait 20mins+ for gate rotations :\

Only 16 is...you get about 1.5k. 15 of twins gate is about 1.2k.
The 16 and 17 arena of that old gate was the best...but now it's gone.

I'll see for myself tomorrow I guess (if I can stop playing IMF), but I've read d15 is like 500-700 crowns, and d16 is 1500-1600ish. To round it up, let's say together that's 2400 for the two floors. I'm not sure what energy is at right at this moment but if its still at 6000/100. Then that means if you were on CE (no mist), the profit from those two floors is roughly 1200cr. That doesn't seem so bad to me for 20 minutes of effort with a lot of predictability.
If you're into doing JK even after you've gotten all the items you need, then that means you also stand to make a little off of selling jelly armor to the NPC. Each one sells for 3500 each and they cost 15 tokens. Assuming you came from d14 at least, that means every JK victory is worth at least 3 tokens (699 crowns for armor sellers). That means if you get 3 tokens, you broke even on the energy costs for level entry (no deaths assumed). You'll usually get some primals along the way and if you save those depending on when you sell them, they're worth extra money (trinkets to NPC. Max 100 tokens for 10k, but you can sell earlier for cheaper trinkets if you wish).
Oh and let's not forget d14 could be a lichen place, those are always good. You'd at the very least break 600 crowns I believe.

But enough of that. To me, it seems JK is still a viable option. You just pay for its ease with less crowns now. But if you're an expert at it, then its still good money. And since a lot of people run it, I (personally) still can probably count on dropping in on parties post d13 (if you dont need recipes, use your friends to skip the first stratum of any tier 8D).
FSC is great, but it is also time consuming. I'd reckon I can run d14-17 twice or more in the time it takes to go through FSC once (though you can get great materials). I think its just a risk vs reward thing now.
i'm pretty sure it woul've been balanced unless OOO are lying.
so basically most of he gates should get the same heat/crowns etc. I'm not sure though.
