Hey everybody,

I was wondering how good the Faust is. I mean, it seems like a good item aside from its charge, which is still pretty decent anyway if you can work around it.

Would there be reason to get

Would there be reason to get it over say...the nightblade?

If you prefer 2 swing, yes.

If you prefer 2 swing, yes. More knockback, longer reach, wider swing arc. Personally I much prefer it, and the charge is actually quite useful.

When you get cursed it's not so bad, with 4 weapons and no curse resist you can still use 2 of the weapons, so I've been fine if I accidentally self-curse via charge.

The self-curse isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.

Both work well. I'm partial

Both work well. I'm partial to the nightblade line because I like the two-hit shield cancel move. Also on slimes/gremlins I can time it so that the third hit interrupts. Finally, it is a lot easier to get a UV on this sword.

On the otherhand, Faust curses - possibly the best status in the game. Also has lots of knockback, a wide arc, and a great charge attack (but takes forever to charge.)

Faust might have an edge against a large group of enemies due to the swing. Also an edge for single large creatures like lichen colonies due to the charge attack. I'd prefer Acheron everywhere else.

I think the decision between the two is up to the wielder. Neither is noticeably superior in every situation.

Ah, just like every other

Ah, just like every other weapon, the Faust is not necessarily superior to the Nightblade or vice versa.

I guess I'll stick with my original choice and get me a sealed sword.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

I have a sealed sword

I have a sealed sword (avenger), but I use a nightblade line for my shadow damage. I prefer the nightblade line over the sealed line because I get in quick hits on jellys and gremlins and I have time to defend perfectly. I prefer the heavier swords for constructs that I can run around and hit. Its up to your personal preference, but I remember being in the same position deciding between GF and Acheron and I think I made a good choice for the nightblade line.

Personally, I have a Gran

Personally, I have a Gran Faust and (had) a nightblade, but scrapped it at the vendor because I never used it.

Gran faust as a 180 degree attack on both hits, as well as massive knockback.

Solo, the first few levels of each tier it's a 2-shot weapon.
The later levels? the second hit helps considerably. Huge knockback, enough so to interrupt attacks. (see : gun puppies)

I love my Gran Faust, though the charge attack leaves something to be desired... It's nice, but I rarely use it. Not because of the chance of self-curse, but because Gran Faust takes SO LONG to charge in comparison to faust.
