Hey folks,

My current set up is a quad-core i7 Macbook Pro with tons of ram and an AMD Radeon 6750M. Everything was running great until I decided to migrate my account to Steam. The migration happened just great but now the body of my character is missing and when the "Heading into Town" screen appears I only hit 90%, hear the click of the news/mail screen opening but I never get past the loading screen.

I've done the following to try and fix it. This is in order:

Delete and reinstall the Steam version of SK
Update OS X to 10.6.8 and update Java
Reboot
Delete Steam version of SK, delete old version of SK
Reinstall Steam version.
Played around with the video settings (changing resolution, trying compatibility mode, entering/exiting fullscreen)

What's going on here and what more can I do? It was running great before and now it doesn't. Any thoughts?

If you create a 2nd Knight,

If you create a 2nd Knight, does it load up properly? You may also want to try making sure your video drivers are up to date since Steam does things slightly different due to the overlay.

Ok, so I made a new character

Ok, so I made a new character and was able to load it up and make it to the crash site. However, when I got to the crash site, it would load up to 90ish% and stop.

Now when I quit the game and start again my main is still a floating head, the new character has her whole body and neither one can load up into Haven or the Pod Rescue city respectively.

What the heck is there left for me to try here? This is incredibly frustrating!

This sounds to be an issue

This sounds to be an issue I've seen a few times where the Steam version doesn't fully download and extract.

Toggling Compatibility Mode on in Options/Advanced video options should do the trick for the bodies.

In the Spiral Knights Steam install directory there should be a file called projectx.log or old-projectx.log that should shed some light on this. Please post it to an external site like Pastebin since the logs can be a bit long for the forums.

Well I figured it out.

Well I figured it out.

Thanks to d0g's idea I looked through the log files, and found that stuff was missing. It turns out that when I would "Delete local content" to get rid of old copies of the game, it didn't get rid of the entire thing. Then I was adding a new, incomplete copy on top and no wonder I was having issues.

So I deleted the entire folder to force a complete download, and now everything seems to be fine. Thanks for your advice! :D
