The real answer why Spice is blocked is because everyone at three rings is a sandworm and doesn't want you to know it. Discussing spice is uncomfortable for them even if it isn't in the context of questioning the fact they control the universe with it.

Also, you know what's ironic? You can't say spice or grape, but you can say damn, ass, hell and bastard. Excuse my language. But whoever was in charge of the curse filter must have been high on something. Either that, or the game likes being full of bugs.
I'm not trying to spew obscenities or break any of the rules, but this filter needs some serious tweaking.

Once again, spice is completely blocked. The whole message doesn't appear. While curse words, if filtered, are simply replaced. Therefore, spice is treated differently and probably not considered a curse word or a part of a curse word, but it's more likely some sort of a bug.

Since when did Sega code Phantasy Star games in Java?
Can't blame Sega/Phantasy Star Universe for this one--Java isn't the language of choice for console development.
What's particularly funny is that, while the filter greatly resembles the Puzzle Pirates filter (minus the make-the-swear-words funny mode), the Puzzle Pirates filter allows grape/spice, etc. You'd think that OOO would have a standard filter by now (this being their third MMO written in Java), but nah...
I have my chat filters off, just did some tests. It seems, that i can use heavy curse words, but messages including spice are being blocked completely.
Correct me, if i'm wrong.
