I started playing SK last week and just finished my tier 2 gear, was going to move on to create my tier 3 but wanted some input/suggestions before I waste too much time/energy.

Currently I have the following:
Flourish
Wolver Cap
Wolver Coat
Blaster
Super Blast Bomb
Plate Shield

I've been doing a bit of reading around on the forums and I'm still a bit confused as to what to aim for. It seems as if Wolver Cap/Coat is worth using but I'm not too sure about my weapons/shield. Flourish seems nice but obviously I'm fairly useless in levels with lots of slimes/constructs. I'm guessing if I'm using Flourish I should get a shadow or elemental blaster of sorts though I could be completely wrong. As far as shields go it seems as if I may be better off changing to an Owlite Shield and upgrading that as opposed to going for the Volcanic Plate Shield. I'm planning on buying the Starter pack sometime this week so changing around a few things isn't a big deal.

Any advice/input would be appreciated.

Wolver cap and coat are

Wolver cap and coat are great, i'd stick with those. For the shield, I would reccommend the Owlite line, or the Bristling Buckler (bought with tokens from Snarbolax). Flourish is great against beasts/fiends, but you will probably be doing alot of Jelly King while going for your 3* gear, so i'd suggest a nightblade, or vile striker.

Personally, id lose the gun and blast bomb, and use Flourish/Nightblade/Vile Striker/Freezing Vaporizer. (the starter pack gives you 2 additional weapon slots for free)

However, thats me. If you like guns by all means keep the blaster and upgrade it. :)

Wolver cap and coat are great

Wolver cap and coat are great ONLY if you're using swords a lot. If you're playing more balanced way (3 weapons: sword+gun+bomb, used evenly) note that sword bonus from Wolver set will apply only to ~33% of your hits.
Personally I'm using mostly handguns. The only sword I wield is Vile Striker but I use it for status effect not damage so any bonuses from Wolver set are pretty useless in my case. Same goes with Bristling Buckler.

I'd advice to experiment with different weapons and verify which style of play suits you most and which weapons are you using for most of the time. Invetment in Wolver set if, for example, you're enjoying bombs and you're good with them, is a waste of time and energy (unless you'd like to wear it as a costume).

Flourish seems nice but obviously I'm fairly useless in levels with lots of slimes/constructs

Most constructs are easily dealt with handgun and slimes, as far as I know, are easy to kite with bomb so your set seems sensible.

The wolver set is very

The wolver set is very popular because it is one of the best armors through the game.

You can use wolver through tier 1 and upgrade to dusker then ash tail by the end of tier 2. This will give you optimal protection against pierce damage while farming your Jelly Tokens and grabbing coin.

Then ash tail goes to vog cub and you change from pierce to elemental resist for tier 3 which sets you up to kill Van.

So, as long as you are favoring swords, you are going a great route by grabbing the wolver.

A good bomb for a swordsman is the shivermist buster. This freezing haze bomb sets up enemies to be focused and once you learn when and where to utilize the bomb it is an incredible asset in those intense areas (like arenas).

The handgun to go with is debatable. I personally favor the Argent Peacemaker. I can kite all day, hit switches and explosives with incredible speed, and keep a steady amount of damage on anything that I don't want to be close to. It also rocks for busting down mineral deposits. I mostly use my gun to hit switches and explode barrels. Don't expect this weapon to kill enemies quickly unless you are kiting them around explosives.

A good second option is a Valiance which will offer substantially more damage on most creatures at the expense of mobility, clip size, and range.

For swords, each player has their own preference. I really really enjoy the Leviathan Blade. The interrupt on swing 2 and knock down on 3 make it perfect for defensive swordsmanship. The charge attack has a small lunge and huge knockback allowing you to get into a mob and not get hit back. You can also shield immediately after the spin for a quick recovery.

I also really like the Divine Avenger. The charge attack is devastating to a crowd and the sword makes graveyard levels, kats, constructs, pups, and many others trivial because of its incredible damage output (when solo, this weapon 2 shots kats, pups, and zombies). It offers a good amount of knock back as well. I find with the Vog Cub armor I can walk an enemy across the map without it getting to attack me.

This is what is important to consider.

Do I have a plan for every type of enemy?
What are the enemies I struggle most with?
What will make the enemies I struggle most with easier?

Many people gear for particular boss engagements. I'd say the only boss worth gearing for is Van (but his loot sucks!)
Generally, gear for the levels before the boss so that you can save ur goodies for him.

What about shields? Am I best

What about shields? Am I best off going for Owlite or is the Volcanic Plate Shield a viable option?
