Hi all!

In June there was a spoiler post about PvP soon to come to Spiral Knights.

While we don't yet know what this will look like (arena style, massive assault, objective (CTF, control point, KotH, ect)) yet, I'm still curious as too see what people are thinking to be the "best" pvp weapons currently available.

Here are my thoughts:

Guns:

Argent Peacemaker and (especially) Sentenza:
I think these two weapons will be the most used pvp guns. Mostly due to mobility and bullet speed. The clip size and fire rate are also good perks.
I think that shadow damage will be the least defended damage type since it think most people will be wearing offensively oriented gear sets which tend to have normal/pierce and normal/elemental defense.

I can also see the Hail Driver being useful as freeze seems like a solid PvP crowd control. I do feel the bullet speed is a bit slow on this weapon to really catch on though.

The Callahan may also be popular due to its enormous ranged damage capability. It's lack of mobility will make it harder to use however.

Valiance- Quick shots, knock back, good stuff. Pure normal damage though and I think everyone will have some normal defense.

Swords:

Gran Faust:
I think the big Shadow bruiser will see a lot of play in PvP. Despite slow attack speed the reach and punishment of this weapon, plus devastating (and ranged) charge attack make it seem very viable. Again, shadow damage seems like a strong way to go.

Leviathan Blade:
The Leviathan Blade has a very controlled attack pattern and quick post charge recovery. I think both these aspects will be very important to pvp play. The only down side is straight normal damage, which will be highly defended against.

Glacius:
Again, I think Freeze will catch on in PvP. High damage, plus freezing. Good stuff.

Bombs:
Shivermist Buster:
Defensive-arena of denial bomb which can funnel opponents into packs where they can be focused.
AoA- similar idea as the Shivermist but with the burning effect instead of the freezing. I think it is less viable but still an option.
Dark Briar Barrage- I think this bomb will be the PvP staple for Bombers. The knock up effect on this thing can be chained to keep an opponent stun locked. I think this will be a very popular pvp bomb.

Armor Sets:

Vog Cub-faster attacks mean faster recovery, means winning. Swordsmen's staple.
Skolver- Skolver may also catch on if Freeze becomes as popular as I think it will.
Mad Bomber-Madness? THIS IS SPARTA! The bomb charge reduction will really play a factor in PvP.
Deadshot Mantle- The only offensively oriented armor set with shadow defense. I think this will really be popular.

Shield:
Could be anything really. Probably will counter what ever is the most overpowered.
My guess is lots of skelly shields.
The Barbarous Thorn shield will probably be popular for swordsmen.

I'm interested in everyone elses ideas. What do you all think?

hit the nail on the head

Although I would add the dread venom striker, because poison would definatly hinder an opposing force......

divine mantle

i think the divine mantle combined with a piercing/normal helm would also be viable. decent stats, and defends against 3 of the scariest stat effects. maybe in combination with scolver for those, to get you the attack bonus without sacrificing shadow/elemental defence.

I'd think that the Pulsar,

I'd think that the Pulsar, with all its new long-range splody gun goodness, would also be popular.

I forgot all about the shock

I forgot all about the shock mechanic. I'm betting in duels and small skirmishes that shock is going to perform very well.

Apply the debuff, get in close with a big ol sword and wait for a shock proc, then wham! when his shield involuntarily goes down.

Voltaic Tempest might be the best PvP bomb yet for this reason. And a shock hand gun might be rather handy as well.

I kinda have to disagree on poison being strong tho. it's not terribly strong in PVE where there are mobs capable of healing large amounts. Players won't be able to heal at all unless consumables and hearts are represented on the battlefields. The damage debuff is decent but I think that other status effects are far more useful.
