Decline to be Revived

Situation:
You're in a fairly easy level with a boss at the end of your run, so you're trying to save energy for the inevitability that you will need to revive yourself when your party dies.

But you die. And someone else dies. Bad luck, but no reason to panic, plenty of help still around to health-split you back to life. Unfortunately, the other person who has died is either new or just came into a windfall of energy because he decides, with all the kindness in his heart, to revive you with energy.

So now your revive cost has doubled without your consent.

Solution:
Allow a player to decline when being revived by others. This gives the player more control over his play experience and allows him to save every bit of energy he chooses until the end of the run, when he really needs it.

!

I'd have to second this suggestion, I don't know why I haven't thought about it before. [Sad to say, I've done this before :(]

Also helpful if your revive cost is growing exponentially more expensive and you want to save the poor sap from wasting a ton of energy.

If someone revives you his

If someone revives you his energy cost should be doubled twice("quadrupled"?) but yours should remain intact.
On a side note, a group revive should have some bonus like saving 2 energy or something.

I'm not saying I want to

I'm not saying I want to punish the people who mass-revive. There are situations where it's helpful, and there are situations where it kind of ruins your day. I just think it should be the choice of the dead player whether to wait for a health-split revive, or to risk increasing his energy revive cost.

But they need to see your

But they need to see your revival rate, so they can determine who get's up if youre all down. You know, when your revive is 80 and the dead guy next to you is only 10. You need to know who will waste the least money. And I just realized someone could keep there revive down if they're the lowest in the party by doing that. so if everyones dead, someone has to spend more on themselves as opposed to less on him. There needs to also be a override if everyones dead.

Why an ovverride? I hear

Why an ovverride? I hear Spiral Knight has this magical function that lets you communicate with your teammates by pressing Enter and typing something.

I agree with the original poster and juances.

Well Even if you tell

Well Even if you tell someone: You only have a 10 energy revive, use it.
They can still say: No way, you guys can waste your energy.
I put the overide to keep the single advantage that the current flawed system has.

In response to DrLequack,

The thing is, usually if everyone is dead, you're not going to mass-revive everyone. One person, who feels he can afford it, will revive, and then revive the rest of the team with health-splits. But it's really not your place as a player to say when another player can afford to revive or not, this is kind of the whole point of this opt-out of revival thing: other players should not be dictating your energy usage.

It's easy for a cash player to be saying, 'oh 20 isn't much for a revive what are you complaining about', but for free players, sometimes even 5 is too much. Everyone will have a different philosophy to energy revival and I think they should be allowed to act on that philosophy rather than be forced to energy revive by a teammate's unknowingly harmful kindness, or to be coerced into reviving by peer pressure.

Hiding one's revival rate is, I think, to prevent this personal and private philosophy from spilling out into the open. It's to prevent the free players from feeling guilty about not reviving at 10, and it's to keep from fueling the anger of cash players who don't understand why someone with so small a revive cost isn't reviving. The game isn't about picking fights and winning arguments about who ought to do what, it's about doing what's fun for you and getting the most out of your experience. Sometimes philosophies clash, and maybe it seems unfair that the guy with a 5 revive cost is being stingy about his energy by staying dead while you pay 10 for your revival, but it shouldn't be in anyone's power to force their philosophy onto others, you know?

And I think most people would not decline to be revived by a teammate in a critical moment, like a boss fight, or if everyone is stuck on the final arena room, because these extra hard moments are what the energy revivals are for.

You can see the revival costs

You can see the revival costs of each player ;)
Just click on their head in the top left of the screen when they're dead
