Alright so I've tried soloing Jelly King twice, even dropping up to 340ce on reviving.

I of course haven't done it yet.

Equipment:
Leviathan Blade Lv. 3: Medium Bonus to Fiend
Nightblade Lv. 3: Low Charge Time Reduction
Vile Striker Lv. 5: Medium Bonus to Undead
Mega Magnus Lv. 5: Medium Bonus to Gremlin
Ash Tail Cap Lv. 7: Low Shock Resist
Ash Tail Coat Lv. 5: Low Piercing Defense
Dark Thorn Shield Lv. 9: Low Damage Bonus
Wise Owlite Shield Lv. 1: Medium Shadow Defense

Maybe I just suck? Not sure, I would consider paying for training though xD

On a sidenote. I watched a few youtube videos and tried kiting other jellies to get them stuck then go at the boss. Just the vials and the Vile Striker charged wouldn't cut it. Even if I kept poison on.

Like title says tips are appreciated.

Thanks for your time,
Maerath

Well you're soloing it so its

Well you're soloing it so its still going to be a bit tougher. What you want to do first is make sure you've got Poison, Fire, and Curse Vials, along with Health pills. Now the Curse vials are mainly for the end when the King starts to spin. But if you have 3 then using one earlier doesn't really hurt. Poison is a big one here that you want to make sure is always on the King. Add Fire to it to damage him then keep striking him and shield as he attacks.

Save your pills for when you're at half health or lower then run away and find time to use 2 of your health pills (unless 1 fills you up) that way you can run back in at full power.

Obviously the King is invincible when he starts going insane and spins like crazy. After a few times of seeing it you'll be able to estimate his position for when the attack ends at which point you'll want to hit him with Curse and Poison. There is a small interval here so it may be better to go with Curse first since it lasts quite a while. THen you can poison him and strike again.

Other tips are to make sure you're close to the King at all times (except when he's spinning) since you don't want your vials to hit the mini jellies and you still want to attack him. It also keeps you from being boxed off while a vial is in your hands which means you have to waste your vial. Kiting the jellies is a waste of time that I wouldn't bother with its really not that effective. I Imagine with your Ash Tail items and your Thorn Shield it shouldn't be too tough to beat Jelly King down.

When the jelly starts

When the jelly starts spinning, run away, hit the blue block (the one wich destroyes the other ones), and charge the levi, when jk ends get close and release the charge, then shield for his normal attack, then hit him with a combo and run away before he starts spinning; repeat this till the end; use often the shield bash to keep mini jellies away; keep the curse vials for when he start's spinning; add me if you think you'll need this to be shown, IGN: Jimmyjazz ;)

Oh i forgot: don't use 340 CE for revive, use it to get the barbarous thorn blade, and maybe to craft ash tail into skolver if you already have a vog or you think you don't need it, they'll help a lot ^^ what i always say to everyone is that there's no point in wasting CE (at least, not more than 5 + 10) to revive in JK, he's not worth it ^^

I solo'd him no problem in

I solo'd him no problem in all 4* gear.

Ascended Calibur
Ash-tail Cap
Ash-tail Coat
Darkthorn Shield

Vials/pills

I unloaded 1 of each vial immediately onto the king, and damaged him hard. Forcing him to spin asap. Once he spins, start charging your weapon, and after his first attack after the spin you get him with charge. Hit him with a vial, make him spin some more. It's quite easy to solo really. You biggest worry is getting trapped by a bunch of jellies. I didn't even try to time vials properly, and I still solod him many times. With only 1-2 deaths max.

I'm wondering about

I'm wondering about sword/weapon selection for him.

Ok, so working towards the sealed sword (Faust seems awesome). Currently have Dark Thorn Blade.

It feels sort of silly to get to a 4* vile striker so I can then move to ANOTHER sword, but I don't feel that charging in with my piercing weapon is very effective.

I did build up to the toxic atomizer bomb for poison, and tried to go support poisoning him in a group...got chewed out for "focusing on the adds and dodging." Don't have any charge speed armor, so it was not fast charging...

My gun's a Firo Driver, so does some great bouncing among the adds, fire, etc, but it can be difficult to get a shot to the boss with the adds in the way.

Am I missing something? Should I charge in with thorn blade blazing? Should I suck up the CE costs and make a vile striker just for the jelly king?

The Jelly King is supposed to

The Jelly King is supposed to be less resistant to Pierce than other Jellies and less weak to Shadow so your Thorn Blade may be fine. With your Firo Driver you'll want to act like its a sword but only use it to inflict the Fire status, after that switch to your sword. Don't bother with the Vile Striker its really overated. So stay in close to him at all times unless you're charging up a bomb in which case you'll want to run away first then come back in. If you need the Fire status then take out the gun but remember you're using it up close, not from far away. I set this bastard on fire with my Firotech MK II when I need to. Then just go back to using your Thorn Blade.

Now if the sword is actually terrible against the Royal Jelly then you may be better off coordinating with another player and just keeping the other Jellies off of their back since the first swipe of that sword is excellent for constantly pushing enemies back. When it seems clear you can gun down the King.

Figure out how much health he

Figure out how much health he recovers per turn (doing the idle phaze and the tantrum phaze) and just do more damage. he only gets around... 100? So if you do 200 damage then you don't really need to posin him. Curse is definitely better than fire. You can kill him fast with faust (ohh, catchy...). Also the explosive blocks hurt him allot. You can get stars out of the little fugger.just guide him into one or just shoot one in range. the little guys are easy to dodge in the middle if you run in circles. If your surrounded your probabaly done, but if you have a shadow weapon, it's better to swing at them instead of just trying to block.

I've had pretty good luck

I've had pretty good luck just focusing on charge attacks and avoiding getting hit. Leviathan or Flourish do a lot of damage.

Soloed at 4*

I've soloed it twice,

My Gear (when I did it):
Avenger
Wise Owlite Shield
Ashtail Cap
Ashtail Coat
Voltech Alchemer

This is a very bad set to go into do the boss but I didn't really want to spend any crowns on other gear I wouldn't use in the near future.
So, I managed to rack up 3 poison, 2 curse, 3 hp capsules and 3 stun capsules.

Right at the start after breaking the walls, hold a poison capsule and stand and the platform, dodge around the jelly and throw the capsule.
Then make sure that he stays under poison by throwing them when the previous one dissapears.

When he turns pink shield and run.
Don't be afraid to follow him whilst dodging the slimes they aren't too much trouble.
When he rests throw a curse vial and stun vial to make sure you can attack him for a longer time.
You may have to revive maximum twice but eventually he will die.

Good luck! >:]

even with all that equipment,

even with all that equipment, your gonna need more people. i had 3 people in a party with my facing jk and even we struggled. maybe if you find a group of people around your skill level, you could pass jk with flying colours. maybe 2 more people could make the cut (see what i did there lol)

You want a hint?

Heres a lecture on how to kill JK:

1) Hit
2) Hit
3) Hit
4) Hit.
5) Hit
6) Hit
7) DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR HEALTH BAR.

i follow this and can solo jk with an acended calibur... YOU HAVE A FREAKING LEVIATHAN.
Keep hitting and dont look at your health. its possible within 42 seconds with a leviathan.
If you havent revived at all, at the max. 4 revives should kill JK.
When he turns pink, he only spins clockwise. So run anticlockwise and you should be safe. but beware, if he hits a wall, he gets bumped by the wall and starts spinning backwards. Its spin can also break your shield.
I wouldnt recommend doing JK solo, unless you have a strong sword, which in your case, you do. Just go with a party if you feel your not yet ready. Im sure when you get a vog you will be like "Im gonna kick that (cencored)'s butt"

I think the poison bomb is a

I think the poison bomb is a waste of time unless you have major charge time reduction. It does no damage, and I'm not sure poison completely stops healing. Fire does damage, volt does damage, and ice is major crowd control. I know shivermist doesn't do much damage, but i was in a group, everyone but the guy with shiver and Levi died. He finished off JK by freezing so he could move, then charging Levi and smacking JK. You might try that. Either wear bomber gear (if you're awesome) or get a bomb with UV CTR med or better.

I've solo'd JK with only:

Dusker Cap
Dusker Coat
Twisted Targe
Faust
Tempered Calibur

Notice the " 'd " because I've only done it twice with 2 revives on both tries. But nonetheless, you can still beat him. Just keep hitting without looking at your health. If he starts to have a tantrum, try to throw in a Levi charge to knock off a chunk of his health.

Do JK yourself or with 1 more person

I'm very successful soloing or going in with a friend

By yourself
- Health pill & Poison/Curse/Fire vials
- If you have Dread Venom Striker replace poison vial with stun
- Dread Venom Striker/Calibur/Grand Faust or Acheron is perfect

Keep him poisoned and on fire with vials to start
Attack JK until he's about to attack then block
Rince and repeat until he starts spinning
Follow him with a stun/curse vile already ready to throw as he clears the way for you
Once he stops spinning thow your vile at him and start attacking then block when he turns pink
Rince and repeat until he's dead

You & a Friend

If your friend is a gunner or bomber
- get him to distract the minions so you can focus on JK following info above
- get him to drop all his pots and health pots before fighting JK as you'll be in JK's face

He'll go down, no need to revive.

This is an excellent advice, because you want space when you're soloing and your charge atk have to land.

You can also try trapping all the medium-sized jelly in blocks first and leaving the King in the middle. Hit the blue block, go inside that area, move downwards, at the very last minute when blocks are respawning, come out. It's will make it a little hassle free for first phrase. You really don't have to res in that solo, or decked yourself with 4/5 star eq.

But hey, if you're getting a bomb as a bomber, might as well get Radiant Sun Shard.

I'd just spam levi charges

I'd just spam levi charges along with support from vials like yoshi at the start mentioned. Especially curse at the end helps tons. I began taking it slower when using this tactic, sure you want to stop him from regenerating, but leviathan charge on an enemy does 2-3 times 150 damage at level 10. That's 300-450 damage a charge. Just walk circles around him to avoid his jelly patrol and to maintain your charge, occasionally hitting through a few blocks and then charging when you have some breathing room.

Only time this doesn't work (or takes more than 1-2 revives) is when I'm in a party of 3-4 people with them all lying on the ground refusing to revive themselves. More people buff his health.
