The art of shield bumping is so useful in FSC! But only a few fail to use this art properly, (no offense.)

Ok, I don't have T3 clearance, and I rarely use my shield, but have been to FSC many times, and my advice should help

Here's the steps you are NOT supposed to do to shield bump. D:

1) See a monster about to jump on you or is coming at you.

2) Shield and wait.

3) Have the shield break down a level leading to two situations.

a) It bounces off.

b) They bounce a little off, then come back to finish off your shield.

4) Get pwned by the rest of the monsters.

Here's how you are "supposed" to do it. :D

1) See a monster about to jump on you or is coming at you.

2) Let is come to you very closely, or go close to it, without having it touch you.

3) Shield and have it bounce off, letting the shield hit the monster, not the other way around.

4) Charge your weapons and shinra tensei! -> http://youtu.be/4EFh9hjWmVE

Thank you for reading.

The offensive language is

Shield bumping is most useful to clear a path or to position mobs in a better place (off of traps or against a wall/corner). If you're primarily using it to bounce mobs who are about to jump on you you're generally wasting time; after the bump they're just going to jump back on top of you.

It's not complicated:
1. Run into monster. You can touch it; I'm not sure why you say you shouldn't let it touch you.
2. Put up shield
3. Watch mob bounce away

A couple things of note: You can still bounce mobs even when your shield breaks, and mobs have collision so if you're trying to bounce a clumped group of mobs it generally doesn't work very well.

Yes useful in JK for me atm.

Yes, but it help to re-shield bump once your can increase the distance of the monsters from your, and break out of the circle.

It really isn't but people seem to use it the wrong way. Yes the monsters can touch you, or whatever, you just need to them to be in your shield's radius or protection, I let it touch me lol, I guess you kind of have to let it in order to be close enough to bounce it off.

A couple things of note: You can still bounce mobs even when your shield breaks, and mobs have collision so if you're trying to bounce a clumped group of mobs it generally doesn't work very well.

Really? That helps! I don't have many problems with that...but I understand your point.

Thank you for replying!

Unbumping

Sigh ; ;

When I first started using bombs a few weeks ago, I had to UNlearn shield bumping. I would reflexively shield bump after laying a bomb and accidentally bump my mobs out of the blasting range. I've been mostly Sword and Guns for the past several months. I am getting better at not bumping mobs out of the blasting range. I still need work.
