Trying to find just which weapon in a list I was looking for has always been a pain, and I noticed recently that the Catalyzer line wasn't listed at all on the Handguns page, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and make the page complete and sensibly ordered.

In doing so, I noticed that the Abilities and Possible Effects fields are redundant. Since the Possible Effects field provides less information than the Abilities field, I figured I would simply delete it; however, I am not sure how to do this, since the field seems to be part of the {{Weaponlist}} command.

If anyone can tell me how to delete this field or direct me to someone who can, I would be happy to continue my work. The same change needs to happen for all weapon types, not just handguns.

I think the purpose of having

I think the purpose of having the information repeated in a possible effects column was so that people could sort by that column to find a weapon that deals that effect. Otherwise sorting the abilities column isn't very specific due to the wide range of abilities.

However, if nobody finds that useful, that column could be removed. I'd like to see some other opinions first though.

Still redundant

Sorting by abilities would yield the same information, though.

The sorting program would group all instances of "Good chance of inflicting Moderate X" together, in alphabetical order of what status effect "X" was to be inflicted. Weapons of the same class tend to have the same chance of inflicting a status, with only one or two exceptions: handguns, for example, all have a Good chance of inflicting Moderate status, with the exception of the Pepperbox line (which is only three guns out of several dozen!).

In short, sorting by ability gives just as much information and more to a user, and in a logical order because of the similarity of abilities within the weapon line, so having a separate effects field is still redundant.

I'm for leaving the "effects" column as it is

erm... sorry. I thought the missing effects in the handguns page were caused by some sort of bug.
Have restored them before stumbling onto this discussion. (we can always delete them again later if we want)

Anyway, IMHO, removing the effects column offers no extra benefits right now....
(It might be a different story if we have too many columns to "fit" into one page width.)

However, doing so will mess up the "swords" page.
(sorting by ability alone will not "group" the similar swords together)

I vote for leaving the column alone.

Having sat on this for a

Having sat on this for a while:

I'd like the "Effects" column to stay. The devs stated a while back that they will continuously add more gear, and even though sorting the abilities will group some instances of effects together, it does not group all instances of effects together. In the long run, if I want to search for a weapon that will inflict fire no matter what chance, I will not want to have to sort by ability, and then scroll past all "Fair chance of causing minor Freeze/Shock/Stun" just to find "Good chance of causing moderate Fire", and then scroll again to find "Slight chance of causing Fire".

Sorting by abilities is great if you have a small weapons list, but as more gear gets added, how the table is organized and how efficiently users can access the data they want becomes more important than a little redundancy.
