Oh, and go to options and turn on the damage numbers.
Don't waste time with gear less than 2 stars. Go straight for wolver helm/armor, a calibur, and a blaster. Those are decent general-use items with good upgrade paths, so you won't waste resources getting something that won't do you any good long-term. Don't buy anything from a vendor unless you have a specific use in mind. AH will be cheaper. If you need some crowns, sell shards you picked up in the dungeon. Selling crystals at the unopened gate terminals (The ones without an elevator) can help, but 3 cr/mineral is as low as you should sell for. If you saved your mist tanks, this weekend's half-off elevator costs would be a good time to get more value from your energy.
While this was slighly tossed into the previous posts its worth mentioning straight up that you don't want to bother with items that can't upgrade to 4* or 5* (the latter is generally better).
The Wiki is also a good place for information so that you can plan out what items you want to use so that you don't waste money and energy on items you won't use.
Like SlyJohnny said, don't waste your energy. Reviving is fine if its within reason. When I was in tier 1 I made sure never to pass the cost of 8 energy to revive since thats almost another floor to travel through. Most of the time energy gates aren't worth it. If its possible you should always try to break the boxes open by literally going around the gate, this is hard to explain but you'll probably figure out how to use Vials and Alchemers etc to break boxes you can't reach. You'll definitely want to start out in a party then if you feel comfortable, go solo. Going solo only has one benefit and thats that all the materials picked up will go to you. In a party everything is split evenly. Heat and Crowns picked up go to everyone int he party (if one member picks up 1 crown, every member gains 1 crown). However with materials, the material will be randomly distributed when picked up.
Ok thanks! i bought the skelly armor, cutter, firebreak shield and auto gun is that fine? and i should be getting about 5k Crystal energy so i can convert that into crowns if i should get different equipment, if i should get different equipment can you give me a few suggestions? and thanks for all the help!
skelly armor is okay.. but if you're going to use a sword most of the time, it's recommended you get a wolver series
cutter is a good weapon, you also want to complement it with a slower weapon, i recommend the calibur line, it's got 3 swings, has a very useful charge attack and does very good damage.
firebreak shield.. is bad.. it doesn't have a 5* option and it doesn't offer anything special.. i recommend getting an owlite
and auto gun is also okay.. but i would recommend an elemental pistol, so cryotech voltech or firatech alchimer.. don't get the prisma tech one, it's got a little more damage but not worth losing the status effect.
go to the wiki to learn more = ]

I got some questions .
1) how do you save? ( or does it do it automatically ? )
2) How do you target ?
Also , on the previous post that explained fighting techniques . Do you learn those after the " rescue camp " ?
1: Automatic.
2: I usually target by pointing my mouse at the monster I wanna beat up but I think there's a key to shift targets (shift, I think?)
3: Fighting techniques? Well, the rescue camp is where you're shown how to do everything in the game. But if you mean what I think you mean, fighting techniques you have to learn on your own through experience and observation. Kite, kite, kite! Make the monsters follow you, dash back and hit them (or shoot them, or lay a bomb), and run for it! Learn how to shield properly too.
Ok this officially my second day now...
1) I got the Wolver (armor?) recipie . I think i need one more bone and a green shard. Where exactly do i find these?
2) How do you get stars on your gear?
3) I got 2 spiral spark ( i think thats what they are called? ) Anyways the description says to take them to the Token trader.
But wheni went to him it seems like he only sells and not buy. I want to know how " I " can sell them. Since that is what the description said...
3a) Or more to the point how do you use those items?
And @ Griffinbane : Thanks for the answers. i appreciate it.
1. Wolvers drop bones. I don't remember what drops green shards, sorry. But if you keep killing monsters, you'll eventually find one. Or you can buy one off someone else.
2. Stars are basically the "rank" of equipment (heat being levels). 0-1 star equips are usually not worth getting. 2-5 star equipment, you can either craft on your own (like that nifty wolver coat recipe you've got there), or you can buy it at the auction house (the more stars, usually, the more expensive). Sometimes, if you're REALLY lucky, you'll get an equipment drop from a rare monster or a green/red box.
3. You can only trade in tokens to Brinks. You cannot sell them to other players. Collect those tokens, they're really good (well, maybe not so much primals...). When you get to 4-5 star crafting, you'll see that you'll need some really rare materials that you likely haven't gotten yet. Welp, Brinks has them.
Don't spend over ten me or ce on revives in clockworks
Don't waste energy on repeated revives or robots.
Learn to shield. You don't NEED to on T1, but if you havn't developed good shield technique by T2, you will suffer.
Learn to shield bash. Every few ticks, enemies clustered around your shield will be knocked away. The "timeout" on this is shorter when the shield is lowered and raised; you can raise your shield for the first time in a fight and know that the enemies around you will be knocked away.
Learn when NOT to shield bash, and be wary of sword knockback. If send an attacking monster flying into another player just in time for it to bite them, then we'll hate you.
Take advantage of damage vulnerabilities where possible: Constructs and Undead hate Elemental, Fiends and Beasts hate Piercing, Jellies and Gremlins hate shadow. More important of that is being aware of damage resistances - Constructs and Jellies resist piercing, Gremlins and Beasts resist elemental, Fiends and Undead resist Shadow
Buy the cheapest 2* sword from the AH you can scrounge. Try out a fast sword, a slow sword, get the measure of what feels good to use. Buy a blast bomb or haze bomb and see if bombing is something you'd like to do.
Later, think about what enemies give you the most trouble, and consider buying a weapon that will help you against them.
