Hey all, I am aiming for the vog cub set + barbarous thorn shield (going all swords).
I am planning to use the snarble barb line complemented by the faust line. does that sound solid enough? or would a snarble barb line + avenger line be better?

I would go with the second option, Snarble + Avenger. Here's why...
Snarble + Avenger vs
Construct/Undead - Avenger has damage bonus + useful charge attack for these types
Slime - use Avenger, high knockback is perfect for these
Gremlin - use Snarble, frequent knockdown is perfect for these
Fiend/Beast - Snarble, has damage bonus
Snarble + Faust vs
Construct - have to use Faust, no other option and no particular benefit (meh... chance to curse...)
Undead - Snarble, frequent knockdown for zombies and the lunge/speed for Kats is great
Gremlin/Slime - Faust has damage bonus, but these types are already easy
Fiend/Beast - Snarble, has damage bonus
So either weapon set won't leave you stuck, but the Avenger means you can deal with Constructs in an optimal fashion. They appear throughout the clockworks and in every arena.
The Faust option would let you handle Gremlins and Slimes more easily, but they are already killed easily with Snarble and Avenger respectively.
If you really like the two swing swords then you should probably get all three weapons, then just switch them out depending on the strata. If you get the Faust first you can more easily farm Jelly Tokens to get your Avenger too.
