You can already wear other

You can already wear other armor you have over your current ones as a costume. Also the CE you can buy already works in the way that it provides you with the opertunity to craft yourself your desired look. That being said, it also give the people that havent payed money to do the same. I like the current system the way it is alot better than a cash shop.

Two side notes: 1. This idea

Two side notes:
1. This idea has been suggested many, many times before. (even using the same thread title)
2. If I logged onto a game, and the first thing I saw was people talking like that.... I'd log right back off again.

Seriously, though: I like the idea that the money we spend gets us more than just art. A cash shop sounds like it would detract from that.

Money = CE. CE = Potentially

Money = CE. CE = Potentially used in just about everything, from crafting to dungeon-running to buying Crowns to purchasing certain special upgrades and items.

tl;dr -> We already have a 'cash shop', it's called the energy portal.

other

another payment!
not neccesarely bought with energy.
Lets say we got mist enery crystal energy and power energy.
power energy u cant buy that with crowns or energy its something u would have to purchase on the website.
its for the peopole that desire an very exclusive look than others because the choice is wether you make the decision to spend real money. You can get all the items in the game without even spending 1 euro/dollar. Three Rings wouldnt earn that much as they should then.
I got full 5 star set and sure it took me a while but really why should i even purchase energy if i can accomplish everything with mist and CE i buy with crowns all the time. Think about it.
Would you like a non-consumer to have the same benefits as a consumer? you put alot money in the game and over a few weeks you got the best gear. And without using money you can get exactly that in a few months, the only difference is
"time" and thats exactly what your buying when you buy Crystal Energy.

Pauling i forgot about search bar thanks for remembering me that and the second side not is just you whining as always.
I cant help you with that, you logged into the game to play, i assume yet you log off because of a conversation between peopole.

All crystal energy is paid for by SOMEONE

That was hard to read, nigel.

Basically, playing a social game requires people that you would want to socialize with.

Likewise: not all items that you craft can be made with mist energy; some are too expensive, and crystal energy is needed. Even if *you* don't buy energy yourself, all of the energy on the exchange was paid for by SOMEONE; hence OOO is guaranteed to make money every time a "free" player crafts 4-5* gear. The beauty of this system is that it's largely transparent.

That said, it also depends on a high and continuous demand for crowns, which encourages paying customers to sell off energy in the first place. Hopefully we'll see some additional crown sinks once the game goes live.

you can call me nigelino I

you can call me nigelino
I recall you don't like to be called paul either.
The energy market started somewhere its hard to tell wether the developers put it in theirself or the peopole did.
I guess you're right with that just theres no proof to start with.
In my point of view i see no reason for myself to buy energy when other peopole do it for me then, making me go back to the topic that a Cash Shop is a usefull feature.
Its a way to push non-consumers to purchase something.
And its not all about money
its also about looking different among others which makes you
unique. When the game releases you will see 100's lookalikes and that can get boring.

Just... look unique?

This is off-topic, but calling someone out for something they did in game and has nothing to do with the Cash Shop is better off not said in your suggestions thread. Now, about the Cash Shop!

From what I understood, you're willing to pay CE if you can get an exclusive armor/appearance.

Think about this:

  • Will it be useful? Will it have good stats?
  • And if it has good stats, will it unbalance the game? Will it penalize non-paying players?
  • How much will we charge before users say "forget it"?

Keep in mind that 5* items already cost you 300 CE, not counting the pre-requisites. The real cost for crafting a 5* item will be at least 500 CE (and more energy, if you have to craft from 2* to 5*!) PLUS the time spent to get the heat, crowns, and materials necessary to craft them. That would mean Cash Shop exclusive items will be at least 1000 CE - obtained by paying 4.95$ or more.
And what will you do when everyone starts buying Cash Shop items? Everyone will have Cash Shop items. Then everyone will look the same again. And then what will you do?

You can still look relatively unique in the game with the currently existing items - just mix and match random equipment together. Don't go for the full angelic set, or the full gunslinger set. Put on a Nameless Poncho and an Elemental Hood together or whatever.

Final note: If Spiral Knights has a Cash Shop, then new players will see Spiral Knights as "a money-greedy game site".

tl;dr Cash Shop isn't a bad idea, but it won't work on Spiral Knights

Honestly Would hate this it

Honestly Would hate this it sounds good right now yay I have Ce I will buy this super sexy hat to show off I have Ce. <--- Yay sounds great right?

Now if everyone starts buying that super sexy hat it really makes no difference on top of that it can give the developers more incentive to make the Cash only items look better and well work on that more than well the free-items. Which may lead to unbalancing I like the idea of everyone no matter if you buy ce or dont put a penny into this game you can still have the same gear as me. Personally, I think that system works out way better.

What's so hard about looking

What's so hard about looking unique? There are around 50 types of helmets and armors (each). Even ignoring shields, that means there are 50 helmets * 50 armors = 2,500 possible combinations. Throw in shields (say 30 total), and that goes up to 75,000 combinations.

Even if you only like half the items in each category, that still leaves 25*25*15 = 9,375 different combinations. If that's not enough to look different, then adding 1 more new art item in a cash shop will not help you. (As it is, the only way to get truly awesome looking items is to work hard AND spend a lot; it's already a mark of distinction)

I sort of feel like this game

I sort of feel like this game works hard to be unique, different, interesting, and not fall into the same destructive patterns that -many- other MMOs fall into. I don't know why you would suggest something like a cosmetic cash shop separate from the energy system; it'd really detract from the things about this game that are fantastic. There are many, many other games better suited to you if you enjoy flaunting your money online via functionless pixels.
