I have an interesting idea for if a player who has done just about everything in the game. It will probably be a pain for the artists that work on the game, but this is just a thought.

I've always wanted to see more of Haven as a cityscape. As one of the unique features of a city, there should be some housing in the game. Picture this...

The Spiral Order has recently discovered abandoned stratums while on several expeditions with a certain traveling merchant. The Strangers have explained that the "houses", as the Strangers called them, were originally occupied by the gremlins as they built the Clockworks. Eventually, they became barren as the gremlin kingdoms formed in the inner sanctums of the Clockworks. The Strangers have used these houses to store all of there unique items. In the recent months, the Strangers have recently opened a majority of their older storage units to be repurposed for housing the new guests of Haven. When asked about the new housing developments, Hobble, A widely known figurehead of the Strangers had this to say:

"We see you, the Spiral Knights, as honored guests and a boon for our planet of Cradle. To thank you for the repeated efforts of helping our merchants in traversing the Clockworks, we have decided to grant you a feeling of "home away from home". With the donations of a majority our storage buildings, we hope to provide you and the knights with housing and hope to grant the knights with the amenities of home while the Skylark is being repaired. There may be a few problems with the roofing and the fact that some of the walls have been broken apart in some places, but we hope to help your stay in the lodging of your choice be as comfortable as possible."

Now thanks to the kindness of the Strangers, knights can now sleep in a cozy bed in their own house on Cradle. The best part about this is that the houses are above ground, safe from all those nasty monsters in the Clockworks. Plus, there's nothing a place to have friends over for parties. Simply go to the housing termnial located near the town sqaure of Haven and speak with Hobble, the lead housing director, to start your adventures in housing.

Housing will be all about adding more customizing elements to the knight and adds more end game options. There will be a few things to collect for your house.

Furniture - There are plenty of old bits and pieces of furniture that the Gremlins seemed to have left behind. They probably won't mind if you "borrow" a few items from them. Furniture items could vary from t.v.s and fridges, to couches, sofas, cabinets and so on.

Paint - Feel like the same drab color of rock doesn't please you? Feel free to paint your room and items with paint. There are plenty of colors to choose from.

Medals - Accolades of your exploits in the Clockworks. There are prizes for reaching the Core terminal, beating bosses, (Example: Defeating Lord Vanaduke earns you the Emblem of Almire) or doing other various tasks.

You can purchase furnishings and paint from Hobble's assistant, Eckley, who stand nearby the housing terminal.

I hope that this provides enough information about my idea about housing for Spiral Knights. Feel free to comment below to tell me what you think.

Well.

The problem with this is the assumption that you'll spend the rest of your life on Cradle.

Well, guess we were powering gates to the Core for nothing, then...

I love the idea of building your own fortress

King.com does it, and it's the best thing on that site. You use the jewels you win to buy various levels of fortresses which you also decorate with things you buy. Spiral Knights could easily do such a thing, and it would give us another thing to spend crowns / CE on.
