Normal Defense UV Viable in Tier 3?
So I have reached Tier 3 and started gathering UV gear (Helm & Armor). I have already acquired some High Ele and Pierce UVs for two separate sets, but want to know if I should pair it with Normal Def UVs (Example: 1 Ele and 1 Normal for one set). I know that in T1 and T2, mobs do normal dmg, but what about Tier 3? Some people/topics have said Tier 3 damage is pure Ele, Pierce, or Shadow, but I have noticed that some of damage is still Normal. So are Normal Defense UVs still viable in T3? Thanks!
To add to the above post, monsters which are only supposed to do normal (those that glow red when attacking) will still do just normal on tier 3. Such monsters include gremlin thwackers, untyped mecha knights, the melee attacks from retrodes, and lichens.
As I have not yet reached tier 3 myself I can't tell you how useful normal defense actually is, but things to take into account are how common normal attacks are, how difficult they are to dodge in comparison to other types of attacks, as well as how often you're going to be doing tiers 1 and 2.

UVs aren't needed at all in tier 3, so of course a normal UV is viable. It may not be as helpful as other UVs (unless it's on a dragon scale or divine item), but it will still be helpful.
Also, I've noticed that some monster attacks in tier 3 are still split damage (based on the blocks flying from me as I'm hit), so I'd guess that monsters work like players where our weapons can deal up to two types of damage.
The way it works is that if a monster deals special damage (read: elemental, shadow, or piercing) then:
If you're in tier 1 then it becomes fully normal damage.
If you're in tier 2 then it splits into half normal damage and half whatever-type-it-was damage.
If you're in tier 3 then it stays fully whatever-type-it-was damage.
