I'd personally like more gamepad features. I sent this suggestion ingame, but maybe some others might like to see it.

- Have "look" and "move" (NSEW) combined. This way you don't have to play with two analog sticks and can have one thumb free for buttons.
- Create a "use quickbar" button. This works with my next suggestion.
- Create two "cycle quickbar" buttons (One increases, one decreases).

Here is what an optimal controller layout would look to me - Xbox (PS3):

Triggers (R2/L2) - Cycle "quickbar" items
Bumpers (R1/L1) - Cycle Weapons
Left Analog - Move/turn
DPad - Move without turn
Right Analog - Direction
A (X) - Attack
X (Square) - Shield
B (Circle) - Not sure
Y (Triangle) - Use Quickbar

My optimal setup may be different, but I think this game would be awesome with a gamepad with a few tweaks.

You can already control the

You can already control the character with one stick (in fact, that's the default for the 360 controller). You just need to map both "Move North" and "Face North" to up, etc.

The wired Xbox 360 controller

The wired Xbox 360 controller is just a vanilla USB device. It can work on Windows without any more work than plugging it in. It's great for PC racing games since many have a default layout for it already.

When I attempt to map "Move

When I attempt to map "Move North" and "Face North" to the up key (#0 Y Rotation -), it removes the mapping function from the other (Say I set Face North, it removes it from Move North).

Preview edit: I see now the defaults are like that (They weren't when I first tried, dunno). What was confusing me was the fact that you have to set it on different Keys which is kind of counter-intuitive.

Okay, here's the default

Okay, here's the default button mapping Scheme:

Button 0 = A
Button 1 = B
Button 2 = X ------------ ACTION
Button 3 = Y ------------ DEFEND
Button 4 = Left Bumper -- Previous Weapon
Button 5 = Right Bumper - Next Weapon
Button 6 = Back
Button 7 = Start
Button 8 = Left Thumbstick Press
Button 9 = Right Thumbstick Press
Z Axis + = L Trigger
Z Axis - = R Trigger
Y Axis + = L Thumbstick Down -- Move + Look South
Y Axis - = L Thumbstick Up ---- Move + Look North
X Axis + = L Thumbstick Right - Move + Look East
X Axis - = L Thumbstick Left -- Move + Look West
Y Rotation + = R Thumb Down
Y Rotation - = R Thumb Up
X Rotation + = R Thumb Right
X Rotation - = R Thumb Left
POV X - = Dpad Left
POV X + = Dpad Right
POV Y - = Dpad Up
POV Y - = Dpad Down

Wow that formatting is messed up. I'll keep playing with a few different keypad setups to see what works best.

Okay more things: POV X and Y

Okay more things:

POV X and Y - (negative) will not let me set it for anything but the movement commands. Those would be nice "quick slot" maps as well as "menu" commands. This way you can navigate menus with the DPad.

On the topic of menus, make a the "move up/down/left/right" buttons also navigate the menus. Also make a "cancel" button so you can back out of menus.

I'm a big fan of using my 360 controller with PC games. I've got the controls on mine set up like Geometry Wars (left stick moves, right stick aims)
the rest is as follows:

rt trigger- attack
left tirgger - guard
left shoulder - bound to Esc key (had to use JoytoKey for this, but totally worth it)
1-4 bound to - ABXY keys (the hat switch doesn't work well for some reason)

works wonderfully IMO.
