Bigfootm's New Player Guide To King Jelly: Jelly King Tips and Tricks
Ok I'm stepping in on this.
Have a team with:
1 fire dealing sword / pistol / bomb;
1 poison dealing sword / pistol / bomb;
1 shadow dealing sword / pistol / (shadow bomb actually is not tha great).
Apart from that, if he's spinning and you haven't thrown a curse vial at him:
1- Try to compensate the next time he spins.
or
2- Die and give up.
I highly advise fire bombs, but only the high star ones (4* or 5*), because the others just won't have enough range to reach JK while keeping you away from minions...

What will you be online, BigFootM?
I would really want to try fsc with you and have you showing me the ropes, dont want to play with terribad players.

note the respawnimg blocks cheat(found in wiki under rj)
haven't tried it yet
What is it exactly that curse and poison do? From what I gather on the wiki, when poisoned the JK will take damage rather than heal when he sacrifices his minions. For the curse it seems he only heals less. Is that accurate, or is it something else?

poison prevents healing, it heals a lot of hp per second so it counts as a lot of "damage" you wont have to do to bring its health back down, but it lasts little, so make sure to use it and make use of it by doing a lot of damage
curse makes it take damage everytime it attacks you, i dont remember the exact value but it was comparable to one charge attack hit from calibur, its a way to add free damage
The strategy that works for me is to take turns, but with charges, you have to be great at kiting the jellies, and your team has to work though. So its probably not for newbies. You move away from the king while charging and dodging everything on the way, that way the jellies that are targeting you will move away from the king and give you some room, time the king's next attack, the minions following you, the regenerating blocks, your party, everything, and move in when its correct and unleash your charge without losing it. Your party members should be doing the same (or perhaps some going rambo, specially vile strikers), dealing constant charge damage without receiving damage. When I say you have to time when its appropriate to attack I don't mean to run around the level forever, it has to be done quickly, move out move in, that's why it's not so useful for newbies.
To make this easier in between charges someone has to clear the respawning blocks to give room to dodge. To clear the whole room go next to the ghost block, and hit it with your sword or gun from the south and looking north, if you place a bomb next to the ghost block it will probably break the blocks next to the ghost one and the chain reaction will have nowhere to go.
Once the king starts spinning around count the spins, you aim to attack right after the 8th spin, which is the final one, because a second after that it does a 9th spin if you are close (a regular attack), if you miss the timing bait it into attacking (get close but move out) and aim to attack after this 9th spin before it decides to spin around again, use any vial after attacking/failing.
Best way to practice this is with the calibur line, go and solo it using only charges, you probably wont win but will learn how it plays.
Once you get fang of vog it will be trivial though, bring remedies and abuse them at the first phase, the second phase gives you more time to heal.

It's not impossible to kill JK with 2* gear to 3* gear.the plan is to keep damaging him and keep him poisoned.I did many JK runs when I was 2* and won.when I got my 3* it made no difference,if I don't follow the plan I lose the fight.right now i got four star.it's either your tactics against JK sucks way too much or your just a sissy who don't want to lose a few hearts and just run around not damaging JK.btw I thought this topic was dead...

For some people.JK is much easier to solo than group because the more people.the more health jelly king has.
...U JELLY
-Toasty spiral knight(Who claims to be a kat.Even thought hes a knight)

Also, the Biohazard line can be effective. Simply get 3 or 4 rotating things on the jk, and then blow them up when his minions are nearby. Colossl shadow damage to all and poisoning :D

Nononononononononononononoonononnonononnonononononono.
Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER gun JK.
:)

Yeah don't gun him just tried with blackhawk was bad and remember, JK takes piercing just slightly resisted. shadow damage on the jelly king himself = normal, just like elemental. because of that, of course i haven't tested it, AP = Sentenza on him and Shadowtech line = any other alchemer line as far as damage on JK. Only going by what I have read but my blackhawk did much more damage to him compared to the adds (this is not considering that using guns is a terrible option to kill JK)
Also for my question, While he is "berserking" (the spinning invulnerable thing) does he take curse damage?
Then, I have been using faust to solo him but recently been failing and also failing to find out what i did differently to not even push a single berserk. I do have a 4* calibur though, would this be a better option to just use the charge attack the whole time while keeping statuses on him?
I use Skolver set, and Use Leviathan for the run. Without dying. Then i use Fang of Vog For the jelly king, charge attack is massive. Then i use Shivermist buster for the minions. Thats basicly how i do it. So i think the best equip would be... Tempered calibur, Freezing vaporizer MKII, and Fireburst brandish. That would be the 3* equip i use. Dusker armour, dusker cap, and then any shield you would like. I use wise owlite.
So basicly weapon-wize, leviathan does the best for the run. Fang of vog best for the Jelly king himself. Nuff said.

Took young guilldies on their first run at the Royal Jelly. Of course, they lay there dead after a short while, so I finished him off with Divine Avenger and Magma Driver. I kept him on fire with the Magma, and laid on hits with the DA charge attack, while avoiding everything else.
Don't like the Royal Jelly back you into that bottom corner. It can be a nice place to hide, but if he comes in after you you will get squashed. Try to keep mobile, and don't be afraid to gun him - guns actually work ok now with the latest tweaks to this fun level.

Title needs to be fixed. There is no Jelly King.
Chrono Chaos stop spamming the same irrelevant subject every single post.

The Calibur line of swords is all you've ever needed for the prenerf and current version of JK. The charge attack hits 3 times for double damage when compared to a normal sword swing. Curse vials do 153 per time JK attacks. Poison Vials temporarily stop JK from getting health from absorbing jellies.
Did Pre-Nerf JK no-death solo with Calibur (2*), Wolver Cap, Wolver Coat, Bristling Buckler (2*), and a Proto Gun. No trinkets.
Did the current JK no-death solo several times with the same set.
Finesse-wise I've solo killed prenerf and current JK without taking any damage.
Killed Ice Queen (Shadow Lair), only getting hit once. Used Leviathan Blade (5* version of calibur)
And I did this fight using Proto Gear. Proto Sword (0*), Proto Gun (0*), Proto Shield (0*), and the Starter Armor Pieces (0*). No trinkets.
And I have videos up of all this, so don't take my word for it...just watch the calibur line destroy this boss. =)

I didn't even know this thread was still here.
@Bata
JK/KJ sounds better then RJ, and about 90% of the players say JK/KJ. :) And it's called a signature, not spamming. >.> Tell that to No-Thanks and a few others, who do sometimes. Most people don't even bother with the subject line, leaving it saying: "Subject: Blah blah bl Text: Blah blah blah
@Everyone
I'll update this, holy crap this thread is old though. And most of it, just thinking from then... Wow.

Never, EVER quote "DevilXTreme"
He said use an antigua here. WTF.

Leviathan + Combuster + Acheron + Venom Veiler/Graviton Vortex + poison, fire, and curse vials = guaranteed win. You can also use freeze/shock vials in place of fire if you want.
I'm not going to suggest the Fang of Vog here since anybody who beat Vanaduke enough times to get that sword really shouldn't need any help on Royal Jelly.

For farming the Jelly King, this works really well.
Fang of Vog. Nuff said.

Note, this is an old video, you will no longer be able to place the first bomb, but still...

If you throw ONE curse vial after he loses his crown, it's done deal. You just have to stay back throwing poison vials and enjoy the fireworks as he spins himself to death.

I just did it with two people: I had a Boltbrand and he had a divine avenger. Neither of us had curse vials, and the only thing we used was poison to stop him from healing. Just keep up the damage and shield bump the mini jellies away from him, and it's pretty easy to do it even without a throwing a curse to the face.

I didn't say it is necessary; I'm just saying it gets really easy if you happen to have one at hand.

The REAL question you need to be asking your team s in the 2nd level. Ask them if their going to do 3keys or 4 keys.
3 keys: i usually recommend this for new players. commonly because its saves (MOST of the time) from getting more deaths. do this when youve spent like 20+ on revives. bad thing is (ehehehehe) no shinies from the extra floor.
I recommend: North West, South West and South East keys since i think their better but thats IMO.
4Keys: DO THIS when you have the proooooo on your side. you get to go to shinies room yay! Mostly OP guilds do this runs all the time so just ask them.
after this just follow what other people said on this thread because they know what they are doing (or just watch some youtube videos since they post it there anywhays).

Hey Bigfoot. Nice guide.
A lot of random players here posting bad information. You should be zerging him at all times while blocking his ram attack and shield bumping any mobs that close in. Use vials when you can. Preferably poison and curse. Also, have a charge attack ready for whenever he stops spinning. Never run into corners because you'll just get mobbed. And you should always be aware of how much health you have. Not sure why players are saying not to rofl. Back off and pill when you need to but get back in there after. Gunning the RJ is totally viable after the nerf, but only with a shadowtech or biohazard line.

My strategy that has yet to fail me:
Swing sword until stuff stops moving
He really is not complicated, unlike say Snarby or the Roarmulus Twins. Get some poison vials, ideally some curse, and maybe fire, and then... well... Swing sword until stuff stops moving.
Although it is worth mentioning Mecha-Knights. If you start at moorcraft and go all the way to JK, you tend to amass at least 1, if not 2 or 3 Mecha-knights. I don't use them until I actually fight the JK, and use all of them at once. They last about 40 seconds, but, more importantly, they attack the MINIONS. They also have Calibur-like weapons, so while you are wacking at the JK, they are doing the Calibur spin the background, keeping the minions off you.

tsk tsk. noobs, noobs, noobs...
its so simple. u dont need to post all these random advice. all u need are a variety if shock, curse, fire, poison, and health pills. then attack spam and kill. curse before he goes into rage, poison to stop him from healing, fire and/or shock to deal dmg, and health pills to heal if u take dmg. easy peezy. run around chargin when he in rage, when he get out of it, just KILL.
weps dont matter, as long as u dont use peircing weps. u should prolly use shadow weps. 3* and above is best, 2* might be a tad difficult. i can kill him with my nightblade. also, 3* armor and shiled or above is prefered, but again, u can do it with 2*. might just be more difficult. easy said, easy done. dont need to go around talking about all that confuzzling weird stuff. :/

u guys realize that JK is simply a tier 2 boss, i would recommend new players to focus on getting their gear for whats suitable for vana, not JK. What i would recomend which is good for both, u would get dread venom striker (poison cutter line), polaris (optional), also any elemntal dmg sword like voltedge and Divine Avenger, also for vana only, get a blitz or plauge needle. Also u should try get a freeze bomb if u feel ur not good in fighting bosses, that will help in vana allot.
All the best,
Prodjsmiles. ;)

This guide was made when Jelly King was actually hard. So quit saying how useless it is.

Blackhawk works now cause its full shadow now.

First of all, for tier 2, you should at least have 2-3*. (mostly 3*)
I have betten the JK with the following:
Weapons-
-Tempered Calibur
- Blaster
Armor-
-Cobalt Set
-Plate Shield
Trust me, it wasnt so easy. (well, kind of was :))
So my advice, get some 3* weapons for Tier 2 and the boss. (JK and RMT)
2* weapons are for tier 1 (even though its pretty easy with 2* in T1)
So, as a conclusion:
1-2*= Tier 1
3*=(and maybe 4*) Tier 2
4-5*= Tier 3
5*= (NEED 5*) Shadow Lairs
Hope I helped :)

Did a RJP run recently with a swordie friend. Admittedly we had a few pieces of 4* items, but I don't think that made a huge difference. We're both Asian players and despite the severe lag we cleared RJ pretty quick. All in all a rather mish-mash set of equipment, but I felt that we were well prepared nonetheless.
On him (sounds like a fashion magazine):
Ash tail cap
Dusker coat
Dark thorn shield
Kamarin (knockback was far safer since we were lagging like mad)
Dark thorn blade (for silkwings)
On me
Gunslinger hat
Gunslinger sash
Swiftstrike buckler
Virulent catalyzer (for the poison status and shadow damage)
Fiery vapourizer
We collected some poison, fire and curse vials, but we didn't use them that much against RJ. As it turned out, the only 2* item we had, the fiery vapourizer, turned out to be surprisingly effective. It took care of the royal minis and the constant burn damage helped a hell lot. We only used a single revive in the boss battle.

I can solo him using only a poison Catalyzer. Poison keeps him from healing, it does Shadow Damage (SUPER EFFECTIVE), and I don't have to walk up to him and get mauled. What was that you said about not gunning him?
Also, Dark Retribution if you've got it, turns JK into a joke.

Have you checked the post dates on that first page there? You do know JK has gone through some changes.

I had to fight him with my team once when they dragged me in. I had 2* stuff then. All did was focus on the pylops and keep them off of teammates. There is seriosuly no reason to use any energy if you aren't purposely running into his attacks. Get a good team too that listens to you. That's the reason I won my first time there. I'm close to getting Antigua now, so I can finally have an effective gun.
If he starts spinning around, follow directly behind him, but not too close. He'll break some blocks for you and make you a path, no need to hide on the sides anymore...
If you don't have poison/fire/curse, don't give up! That's terrible advice! Keep those Pylops off of the jelly king! Don't break the blocks so some of those little things get out.
Show the JK a jar of jam and it'll instantly go into a rage and fly off of the stage.
