Right, now I've been playing Spiral Knights for about a month now, I first started in June. My problem is, that after every update (like the Ironclaw one), when I load the game up, the necessary files for the update download and such. Now, the newest update (with the Gremlins coming to Haven) I have the problem again. It seems fine, but then I get this message:

"We were unable to download the necessary files after five attempts. You can try running the application again, but if it fails you may need to uninstall and re-install. 0% complete"

Now in the past, I simply had to wait. Then it fixed itself after a few days. I've tried un-installing and re-installing, to no avail. Could I have a solution please? I dont want to wait about 3 days, while 400 energy goes to waste.

EDIT: It is the same as this picture (I have Windows Vista and use Steam to play the game)

Error patching

Error patching '.\code\projectx-config.jar': java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file - looks like the file is damaged, or with java itself is broken.

Delete projectx-config.jar and relaunch the game. The patcher will pull down a full copy of the file and try to complete the update.

Didn't work.

That didnt work \: It just made that error message pop up faster.
Should I update my Java?

That would be my suggestion

Your on a steam install right? Did you replace the java_vm folder in the SK directory? The game shows you on Java update 25, but steam comes with update 7.

Yeah, I tried that

I replaced the Java_vm folder in the SK directory with the C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6 contents. I basically deleted the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights\java_vm" files and replaced them with the jre6 contents.

That didn't work, if thats what you mean?

EDIT: I just loaded up SK, and it went straight into the game. The patching and downloading window didn't pop up - this is normally what happens when the issue went away beforehand. I thought it'd work, however, it didn't. The game loaded up, went black, then closed itself. Kept on doing this. I re-installed again, (no luck) here's the contents on the log.

Just delete the \code and

Just delete the \code and \rsrc directories. Also, try launching steam with admin rights.

Right click, Save as, and

Right click, Save as, and save it someplace. Then replace/overwrite the entire file in the SK folder

The links are just in case the patcher still has trouble figuring out which version it should be using.
