So it awards people who are online right? 2 mins ago a guy named "Seaplusplus" won. As soon as i saw that, i whispered him. Says "this user is not currently online"

I mean, if he won, i dont think he'd log off immediately. Explanation please?

And yes i triple checked if that was his name. Whatsup Three Rings?

Undying
It could have been a "slave"

It could have been a "slave" account. Meaning a guy created a secondary account, and logged on several in order to have better chances of winning. That, or he only logged on in hopes of winning, and when he did logged off.

You only have to be online

You only have to be online for the hour to count towards the lottery of that hour. Meaning you could just chill in haven for a minute and count for it and log off with a possibility of winning.

It's not a scam of couse

Why would OOO risked its reputation of integrity just to stop us from getting 1k extra ce? And most of the lottery players just show up for the last few minutes, and leave right after the winner is anounced, so it's totally reasonable for you to not find him. If you still have doubt, keep checking on other winners as you wish. Hope this answers the question.

I thought I've given you a well thought out answer to why this is not a scam. You don't have to thank me, but I would be grateful if you can answer my above question. I really would like to know more about this bad reputation of OOO.

This whole event is obviously a plot by OOO to not give us stuff they don't have to give us, in a game we own no part of. Congratulations.

My "best" guess would be

My "best" guess would be "free server stress test". But the again, that can't be right? There ought to be better ways. Maybe they're trying to raise the average player IQ by adding an hourly disappointment to the ingame experience of all those people who can't guess what their chances are beforehand until enough of those quit? :D

Anyway, it's a fun event. Maybe the devs just have a strange sense of humor and did let the new PR-guy push his "great idea" into the game for fun. Every time I see a red message I can't help chuckling, thinking:

"Attention SK people!!! In 20 hours, a random Noob that probably will never log in again after next week will receive 2 gel drops! Until then, we will repeat this message every 5 seconds. You're welcome!"

xD

I must say I'm not keen on my name potentially being broadcast server-wide, as killerjas30 has already pointed out people may simply be avoiding unwanted attention.

Or they might just have other things to do...?

If you ask me, this lottery

If you ask me, this lottery is absoluely dumb, seriously only 1k of CE and a temporary upgrade? Wow, I wish I was the 2nd winner (since the 2nd winner won 3.5k CE.)
But yeah, this lottery is just a scam, someone gets picked who absolutely does not play often, or has too many CE, and that's it. I mean couldn't they pick 5 people for each hour INSTEAD OF ONE?! (It would solve alot of issues.)
Seriously, can't it be other prizes other that dumb cheap prizes, and after that being scammed by half of the community with either one of these messages: Congradualtions, Mother ******, Noob, of well you see, most would be negative

No, really, Ichiban2go. You've made a lot of bluster and not a lot of sense.
Do you realize that libel is wrong? That fostering negative emotions for any reason can only result in more negativity?
Negativity is bad. Are you a bad person?

Second, what's the deal, guys? This is a free give-away event. It's good publicity.
Three Rings' evil plan is to reward existing players and get new players to join.
Devious.

Lessee, 56 prizes given out. Roughly about ohh...2000 people currently in clockworks, and an additional who knows how many hundred in Haven. Plus who knows how many more logging in right before the giveaway. That's a 3% chance of winning something with just the people in the clockworks. So yeah, the numbers are against you.

I think it'd be better if

I think it'd be better if they A) did this often or B) had a 100CE giveaway EVERY hour (or two or three), all the time. Giving out more than one prize would be cool though since the prizes aren't that great as far as this goes. We'd still have plenty of people complaining though so I guess it wouldn't matter. It'd be better overall if they coul single out people who logged in withing 5 minutes before the draw or did it randomly within each hour rather than ON the hour. Seriously, how many of you guys just logged in? I fail to see how its a scam though. We didn't have to buy tickets or something, we just sit around and see if we won or not.

No, when they say special I imagine better than a steam mask and more CE compared to the rest of the prizes. Its not awesome, its a random giveaway. Clearly we could all go without we just do it because its in our nature really and we know that even if we have the smallest chance then we may as well try. Anyhow, you need to calm down seeing as my post was centered around getting the whiners to stop whining rather than satisfy your odd need to call people out on everything. I question if you even read my entire post, the last two sentences of my post in relation to yours make it look as though you didn't.

Yes this is a good deal. They are doing something good for the community. They were giving away weapon slot upgrades yesterday. Heat amplifiers are worth it if you don't have to pay for it.

Scam is a seriously negative word. You can't suggest it without offending people.
Three Rings does not need me to stick up for them.
I spoke up on my own behalf out of confusion.

I still don't understand. Why would anybody hate Three Rings for this? What possible motive could a person have to suggest accusations of unfair play? Why would anyone think poorly of Three Rings?

Honestly, I haven't heard one bad thing about them. No, only good things.

A thousand energy is quite a considerable amount.

uh, no, 1000E is not a considerable amount. That is about $2.50 worth of energy, so OOO giving it away once per hour is spending a whopping $60/day. Of course, it really isn't costing OOO anywhere near $60/day since they can magic up the CE and all that it might be costing them is a slight reduction in CE purchases.

Getting $2.50 worth of CE may be a lot better than getting nothing and OOO doesn't have to give away anything, but it is *NOT* a considerable amount.

For whatever reason, some people are quick to make accusations of wrongdoing, or jump on conspiracy theories. It kind of reminds me of all the people on Puzzle Pirates who insist that the poker game there is rigged. It doesn't make sense for Three Rings to do such a thing, but people somehow get the idea that it must be true.

srlsy..

The event did not seem as a scam to me. I honestly did not get anything, but I did not care.

What I do care about is that this event was poorly planned and exxecuted. As some already stated: "every full hour, massive ammounts of people logged in for 1-5 mins to leave again if they did/ did not win anything".

What does this mean for the casual paying and non-paying players?

It means that on every full hour, the server gets filled with players that do nothing but waiting, pushing up the limit of what the server can hold. People that actually tried to enjoy the game got stuck in massive lagwaves due to this. Where I've been playing fine between hours, I've died 4 times in an arena directly in sequence because of this. And yes,I had my graphs on low. My game functioned perfectly with the same graphs before the event.

It also means that players who never play just logged in to have an aim for the prizes.

Ironicly enough, both of the hiccup matters could have solved by either a stresstest (but they prolly already knew this would happen, but pushed on), or by the limit of stating that the character in question should have had at least 1 hour of in-game time (making it less interresting for people to stay on, but also making the lag more over the hour hinting people to stay away the whole weekend). Adding prices would only make it worse.

In the end the player online readings are a lie. You have them on, but they weren't doing anything.

OOO has a very good reputation in my mind. Conspiracies are what they are, crap. There is always way more proof against conspiracies than there is for them people just like to believe them in this circumstance because they want to complain. There was what 6000 users online at a time? Yeah you have a very small chance of winning.
