Tuhui you have a point except you also don't. WoW used to be the same way then they decided...ya if you wanna pay for it change your name, hell change your faction and your race, we don't care just give us your money.
Also my friend had is name changed by a gm someone complained about it...so it was changed to something stupid...he had to spend several weeks to get ahold of a GM but he was allowed to change it to something of his choosing. All the while my friend list updated itself. So those people that know you by your name will know you by your new name via friends list or you know the fact that your talking to them...probably saying "hey this ____ i changed my name." If you play enough with certain people they will know your play style, your character looks, speech/typing mannerisms when you chat. Those are what make you, well you. A name is just a quick means to identify you from a dozen other people without pointing and going "you".
Your name is your identity. How many people know you by your name. It is something that i want to be perminant. If you have some problems with people then there is probably a case there, but you should not be able to change your name because one sound better. Some thing should not be changed, not without a good reason at least.
