Actually it's not so non-SK topic, but probably not worthy putting in General Discussion :-D
Today I've decided to make another character on my account - a gremlin-themed character wielding Thwack Hammer, Wrench Wand, Heavy Deconstructor and one day maybe even Darkfang Shield. A knight adopted and brought up by gremlins in Emberlight or something like that :-D
A sort of character inspired by captain Carrot from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.
I've decided to follow the style of gremlin's names like Vise and Punch.
Clamp sounds just awesome but it has been already taken.
Rasp is great name for a gremlin but, well, it has been already taken.
Ratchet isn't bad one either - oh it's taken too :-(
Hacksaw sounds cool but of course it's already taken.
Welder? Nope, not a chance for this one.
Lathe (I've become a bit desperate here). Even such name has been taken!
C'mon! Is there any The Knights of the Tool Box or Workbench Paladins guild out there?!
Ok, no more tools. Let's try something else.
Gasket would be such a nice gremlin name, but it has been taken.
Hinge sounds spiffy but sadly isn't available either.
Valve - actually I knew there's no chance for this one.
Oh well, eventually I've ended up with Inbus, which is not that awesome but I really had not choice. Beside gremlins are a bit German-like, aren't they :-D
Great idea, I'm digging it. I hope you will post a pic when you have enough stuff to make 'em look like a gremlin, should be cool.
Back to names, I find that people mostly don't know that the hyphen is usable so I think you may get away with two-word names separated by a hyphen, even popular ones, more easily. Did you think of adding a surname to the guy? You might have gotten away with Clamp-(insert surname)...
