The wiki says they appear on Construct, Fire, Gremlin and Shock levels. But it seems like no matter where I go, Primal Sparks are the most common. I just did a tier 1 run through Fire and Gremlin stratums just for the chance of a Forge. All I got was one Primal, it was on a Jigsaw Valley level with nothing but constructs and gremlins.
where am i supposed to find forge sparks?

Are primal sparks supposed to be more common? I generally don't stick to one stratum type, yet I always seem to rack up primal sparks faster than the other two. Like right now I have 2 forges, 3 grims and 15 primals.

No idea if the drop rate is different, but a lot of people farm the jelly palace and the chests there only drop primals, plus the only boss in t1 is snarb which ALSO only gives primals, so it's easy to get more of them than any other token in the early game.

Even before I did jelly runs, and when there were only two bosses, I had many more primal sparks than either of the other two. I just assumed either primals were more common, or the others are more common on higher tiers. Now I just think primals are more common.

Jigsaw Valley used to also count as a Beast and Slime stage. Presumably the treasure boxes still reflect that.
Primal Sparks drop in Slime, Beast and Freeze-themed stages. Gloaming Wildwoods is a Beast stage; Royal Jelly Palace is a Slime stage.
Grim Sparks drop in Undead, Fiend and Poison-themed stages. Graveyards count as Undead stages.
Forge Sparks drop in Construct, Gremlin, Fire and Shock stages (but somehow not in Ironclaw Munitions Factory, which is Gremlins and Constructs plus Shock).

I usually find them in
The sun gate, the one with the jelly king in it, the earlier stages that is, but still they are not very common, primal sparks I seem to get almost every couple of levels.......I'm not complaining but I would like more of the other two aswell.

Pretty random to me
So for i've collected around 140primal, 45 forge, and 40 grims. I really dont pick levels and just play whatever i feel like playing that day. However, i do try to avoid the twins. But yeah, primals are dropped quite frequently in their levels, the others not so much.
Jigsaw valley used to be slime and construct themed, so it's possible they haven't updated the drop table to be purely forge spark tokens there.
Anyways, the wiki's right about where you should be finding forge sparks, though I suspect you can get primal sparks in any slime/beast themed floor of a fire strata. Generally I tend to get at least 1 forge spark in the chests after beating the roarmulus twins, but none during the run. And you often get one or two of each token type in treasure vaults, though actually wanting to see them is unusual
