I have been looking at the monsters in IMF, and I've been wondering if I've got good weapons for it. Here's what I usually take with me: Nightblade- UV Damage Bonus vs. Construct: Low and a Cryotech Mk II. I think the nightblade is a double whammy for the gremlins and constructs, because gremlins are weak to shadow. Since there is so much constructs in IMF, and shadow damage is weak against construct, so the UV is really useful. And the elemental damage from my cryotech is strong against constructs, so i think I've covered that base pretty well. However, I have a tempered calibur w/ UV Damage Bonus vs. Construct: Med so idk if I should take my calibur or stick to my nightblade.
Is this a good setup for IMF?
Well if were just comparing the Nightblade to Tempered Calibur I'd say either is good. I likethat you have cryotech MK II its a great choice for IMF though a Voltech MK II would be better. Anyway back to the point. Heres a chart to help:
Blade:| Temp.Calibur | Nightblade | Winner |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UV | Construct: Med | Constuct: Low | Calibur |
vs. Constructs | Normal | Not so Strong | Point for the Shiny CALIBUR |
vs Gremlins | Normal | Very Good | Nightblade FTW |
DMG Type | Normal | Shadow | Tie. Both are pretty good overall |
Stars | 3 | 3 | Tie again |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FINAL SCORE | 4 | 3 | Tempered Calibur |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So while the Nightblade UV construct: low is a nice blade, Tempered Calibur is just better for this situation. Looking back though either would fare fine, since u also got an Elemental Damage gun, the Cryotech MK 2. Id\'d say if its your first time take the Calibur and when you've got a feel for the IMF layout, then try it with Nightblade. Hope this help and hope u like my chart !! :)
Dont mean to double post but sorry i didn't kno the chart would look like that. Oh well.... Hope you can decipher it. :)
Thanks for all of the tips guys. I understand the chart now, after a few minutes of trying... lol. Anyways, I'll try it with both suggestions. Thanks!

I think voltech would be a worse choice in IMF because a lot of the constructs in there are shock themed, so your shock effect is going to waste more than freeze would. I wouldn't really recommend an alchemer of any kind in there, though. The cramped quarters with switches all around means the ricochets flip lots of switches when you don't mean to. It gets very annoying. I had a much less unpleasant time using a blaster for most of my shooting.

You will find lots of quicksilvers in IMF. Trouserman forgot to mention this. These are the jellies that are silver in color - and when they take shock elemental damage - they zip around like mad shocking everything while invincible. I guess its not quite so bad since they were nerfed (a month ago?).
In all other cases, i prefer my voltech over my cryotech - but when quicksilvers are involved - leave the voltech at home.
I use a Cryo Driver and Ascended Calibur and it's an excellent combo for the IMF - I also use a Toxic Catalyzer for Slimes/Gremlins but that's mainly a backup weapon. Also you have to do IMF 5 times to get it so it's not much use on your first run.
But yeah, I'd recommend the Cryo Driver + Calibur
For a gremlin-run factory there are surprisingly few gremlins, guess they've managed to automate most of the process. Having a weapon that can deal damage to constructs is definitely the most important aspect when going in there. The occasional gremlins and slimes are but a nuisance in comparison.
Nightblades, with its shadow damage, is actually neutral to constructs. I would think that the Tempered Calibur UV Construct Medium is going to be a better choice though. The charge attack can deal great damage to Gun Puppies and also the knockback will help against all those bots.
A gun is nice for hitting switches, but if it isn't your job to do so in the party I'd actually recommend carrying both swords instead - the Nightblade for gremlins/slimes and the Calibur for everything else.
To really do some heavy damage in IMF though you'd want to invest in an elemental sword such as the Avenger, Glacius or Combuster. This is because all those constructs will be weak to Elemental. The weakness will result in slightly more damage than a UV Medium could do on a neutral sword.
