I've been trying to figure out what kind of path to take and I keep choosing one, but then changing my mind- which is costing a bit too much for me. So I was hoping to get some answers to help me stick to path.

-Im stuck between having 3 or 2 sets.
If I went the 3 set path,
--I was thinking of upgrading my Ash tail armor/helm to Skolver for the piercing set.
--Then my Miracle armor/helm to Grey Feather for the elemental set.
--And my Scary Skelly armor/helm to Dread Skelly for the shadow.
The main goal here is to have normal + pierce/element/shadow defense.

Then I also had another idea of just getting 2 sets.
--Upgrading my Miracle armor/helm to Divine to get both elemental/shadow, but no normal.
--Then my ash tail armor/helm to Skolver for a piercing set.
The problem here is that I worry I would get destroyed by anything that deals normal damage.. but I also hear there is not much normal in T3. Although, some strong monsters like trojans still deal normal.

To compensate for the 2 set idea, I thought it was a good idea to get 3 separate shields
--Upgrading my Wise Owlite Shield to a Grey Owlite for elemental.
--My Sinister Skelly Shield to a Dread Skelly for shadow.
--And my Mighty Defender to an Aegis for piercing.
This way all 3 shields would still have normal and I would just have to shield when normal damage dealing mobs are attacking.

But I just can't decide.. I just keep thinking I will eventually get shafted if I chose the *cheaper* 2 set way only. But then again, I have been playing some instances where elemental dealing mobs are mixed with shadow and my elemental armor is not working so well.

Two things I am also really concerned about are Fire and Shock. Those debuffs really deal some heavy damage and almost always get me killed.
I am mainly trying to run T3 instances.

Also one last simple question is about the stratums. I've been trying to find more information in the wiki about the color and what mobs will spawn, but there are instances where I will see an icon that has a totally different color than what is listed in the wiki.. so I was wondering is the wiki outdated? Is there a better guide on figuring out what mobs will be spawning in what stratums?

So any kind of advice about anything would be great, I am currently trying not to upgrade any more items so I can stop wasting so much and ending up not even using them- like the Heavy Plate shield which I planned on turning into a Volcanic shield which I learned the recipe for too... now I don't even want it, lol!

So any thoughts?Two sets

So any thoughts?
Two sets where one covers shadow/elemental and other normal/percing
or
Three sets where each cover normal/shadow normal/elemental and normal/piercing

I just think the three set way would be best.. people keep telling me you still need normal damage, even though others tell me there is not much normal damage in T3.
Maybe even mix armor? Like the divine helmet mixed with.. dread skelly? Not really sure..

Also.. I don't understand why so many would chose Vog Cub over Grey Feather.. You lose elemental defense to gain normal defense?? The grey feather still has fire resistance and adds a shock resistance with even more elemental defense.. any thoughts there?

It may not...

It may not be the best set but i run with dread skelly armor and divine hood. This cover normal elemental and shadow defences. For the piercing defence i have a barbarous thorn shield. This is because the only real things that do piercing damage you dont want to hit you. Ex: alpha wolvers

Vog Cub is popular because of

Vog Cub is popular because of the Sword Attack Speed Increase paired with FSC friendly Normal/Elemental/Fire mix. I like the Grey Feather also, I do wish it had some offensive bonus though instead of being a purely defensive set.

Your idea of making three sets to cover the different instances is quite ideal but will be expensive. If you can swing it, that would be great. Never bring the skelly suit somewhere that has fire though, even if you are fighting undead/fiends. The negative fire resistance will burn you badly.

For option 2, I would recommend mixing Divine Veil with Vog Cub. You will lack any piercing defense so will have to be careful around jellies/wolvers, but at least you are doubling up on Elemental.

Consider this too, going full Grey Feather set is usually more optimal than doing half Divine Veil/Grey Feather. This is because the Normal defense is so much more useful than Shadow in most situations.

@YongChi note that shield and armor defenses don't stack. Shield defenses are only applicable when the shield is active, so when an Alpha Wolver bites it is best to simply dodge instead of relying on shielding to keep you safe. In T3 an Alpha Wolver will break right through a 5* Barb Thorn Shield despite the piercing defense.

Ah okay.. thank you for the

Ah okay.. thank you for the reply. Cleared up a lot of things.. I think I'm going to go for the three sets. I can afford up to 4star and eventually will have to work at it for 5.
I don't really mind the attack speed too much, I just think the Grey feather would be better for me.

As for the skelly.. I was wondering about that. I looked through all of the armor for shadow, looks like they all pretty much blow. I think there was one that was good for fire, or maybe it just didn't have a negative fire resistance- but then it came with lower damage to fiends - medium. And I really need a shadow set for those damn little pesky devilits and grievers so that would be really pointless if I do low damage to them.
What would I do in a situation where there is going to be fiends but also fire? Just stick with the grey feather?

Also, how can I exactly check what is coming up? When I look at the Gate Map, sometimes I see colors on the icons that aren't listed on the Wiki so I really can't tell what is coming up.. Is there a guide for telling what stratums are coming up or explaining it a bit better?

I think that the game

I think that the game designers purposely left out the perfect shadow armor, that way people would have to compromise something in FSC. (Of course, everyone ended up with Vog instead, but whatever.)

If I'm going into a fiend area I'll put on my best Normal/Elemental armor and then grab a Shadow Shield. I have a Dread Skelly Suit but never use it due to the fire issue. The Skelly shield and Crest of Almire can take a lot of Devilite junk before they crack. That lets me move in close, wait for someone to toss some junk them move in for the kill. A flourish will help make quick work of them too. For Greavers you have to interrupt their attack and try to only aggro one at a time. That is the safest way to deal with them. Aggro one, wait for it to start attacking, do one swipe to interrupt then wait again for the next attack. If it is the last one or if it is almost dead I'll finish the combo to take it down.

On the Gate Map just mouse over the icons and it'll tell you the name of the area. The name will cleverly describe the most common monster there and the status type. So Lichenous Lair Toxic Union is going to be poison slimes, mostly. There will be some silkwings and constructs tossed in for fun, but mostly slimes that are mostly poison. Since the gates rotate continuously, if you get to the elevator and the next level isn't something you want to face just wait there a few minutes and it'll rotate out. The exceptions are depths that only have one area or the ? depths, which are randomly chosen when you step on the elevator.

Ah.. great information man,

Ah.. great information man, thanks! I always try to kite the devilites with my silversix, but they just move too fast and it always takes wayyyy too long. As for greavers, they are just really annoying.. so I think the skelly shield will be great with that technique you described, thanks!

Would you say the skelly armor/helmet isn't even worth it? I think just about every time I have faced the devilites there has been fire type ones and the fact that you never use your dread skelly suit- should I just get a Grey Feather set and Skolver set?

And thanks for clearing up the gate issue, now I just have to learn the stage/code names :P

Yeah, make the Grey Feather

Yeah, make the Grey Feather and Skolver sets first to see how that works for you. If you still want to try out Skelly after that feel free. I would definitely prioritize those two first.

Okay great, thank you!

How often do you use your skelly armor/helm? Like which instances?
I'm wondering if it's worth it at all.. maybe just get it to 4star?

A few weeks ago there was a fiend strata just before FSC. It was giving me issues so I donned my Dread Skelly Suit and fared much better. There was no fire area there so that aspect didn't give me issues. Other than that, never.

Maybe you should try to get

Maybe you should try to get Max Normal Defense UV early on your Magic Cloak/Hood and then upgrade it to Divine Mantle/Veil? I am actually going to try it after I get all my 5* gears.
