Alright, so from what i heard an Omega Shell will NOT work in T3, so i decided i would either get a VPS or an Owlite shield. I'll have full vog cub, an avenger, a Gran Faust and a thorn blade. which shield would be better?

VPS has only Normal defense

VPS has only Normal defense and Stun resistance compared to Owlite's Normal and Elemental (in my opinion most common damage type enemies will deal) and Fire and Shock resistance (two of the most devastating status effect) so I think that Owlite is better for most situations.

Owlite is considered better,

Owlite is considered better, since it has a high defense against normal and elemental attacks - the top two most common damage types.
Considering that you're also going to be using it in tier 3, the added fire resistance would be good, and as far as shock resistance goes, that's just generally useful. However, owlite has no piercing resistance, so you should be on your guard about that.

Moving on to the Volcanic plate, it doesn't give any elemental defense, which is supposedly very common in tier 3 (I only just recently gained access), and not that the bars are very accurate, but it seems that the owlite gives just a smudge less health than the volcanic plate does, with the benefit of the elemental def.

So, Tl:Dr, I'd go with owlite.

Just cause. Get VPS for FSC,

Just cause. Get VPS for FSC, and GoS for anywhere else. I still prefer VPS first though.

All you have to do is either

All you have to do is either ragecraft some plate shields or roll UVs on your VPS (Better) and get elemental/shadow defense.

Omega shield DOES work in t3,

Omega shield DOES work in t3, it's just not used that much due to some shields have the same stats, just with mire resistances. You'll regret getting Owlite, trust me. I've been trying to sell my GoS 4ever.

@nox2go

The Omega Shell fails quickly mostly because it lacks elemental defense, which is very common in T3. Also it does not have any status resistances, so any typed attack blows through it quickly too. The combination of the two means there are many other shields that would be recommended before the Omega Shell.

The VPS seems to hold up better due to the amount of health the shield has, and is particularly useful against Vanaduke due to its fire/stun resistances. I've brought VPS all the way through to that battle, it works quite well. In a T3 arena though, if I get hit by a charge attack from a mecha knight then it is gone.

Chocolate.

If you get an owlite shield with a UV of increased fire/shock resistance,
does it help at all. I thought the shield already had max fire/shock resistance
but I wasn't sure if it would help at all.

No one really knows. But from limited testing it looks like there are no reachable caps on resistances or defenses. You can have a Max Normal UV on a Volcanic Plate Shield (which is already "maxed" according to the bar) and it will still be slightly stronger than if there was no UV.

I imagine the same should be true for status resistances too. I haven't seen any tests verifying one way or the other.
