What attracts you to join a guild? Qualities & expectations of a good SK guild in your opinion

Greetings, fellow adventurers of the Clockworks!

Based on the huge number of guild recruitment threads in the forum, all with varying degrees of success, I was wondering - what is it that attracts you to join a guild?

Is it the claimed quality of players? Perhaps boss runs with like-minded or better skilled players? Special guild members only activities? Good humor? Free gear on signing up? Perhaps even... free cake? =P

In addition, what are the qualities and expectations that you keep in consideration when you are contemplating whether to signup with a guild, compared to another?

(This is my first MMO, so am curious as to what is it that motivates fellow Spiral Knights players to choose one guild over another, when in my opinion, it would seem that most guilds are not that differentiated, at least not in the guild recruitment section - apart for them being causal or regular / hardcore players. But then again, I think every guild has their mix of regular and casual players)

Looking forward to your thoughts! =)

Btw, I am not looking to join

Btw, I am not looking to join a guild - I am already in one (http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/17365) - was just wondering what makes certain guilds more attractive

Marketeer by day, so "consumer behavior" is something that I am interested to get more insight into. =)

I'd prefer a friendly guild

I'd prefer a friendly guild over an elitist guild. And by friendly I don't mean giving away random stuff, that's the last thing I'd want .. A guild full of beggers.

The guildchat should be active too of course. Can't think of anything else right now :3

Thanks for sharing your

Thanks for sharing your preferences, Tennesse. =)

Agree with you on not wanting to be in a guild full of beggers - definately not ideal or the best environment to enjoy the game!

Playing this weekend, I added to my mental list that a good guild should have members who have the patience to lead and guide the less experienced players through the various stages, so that everyone can grow and bond together. No reference to anyone/guild (incase anyone/guild gets offended!) but I think this is an area that falls into the "easier-said-than-done" aspect of a guild, as it depends largely on the various personalities that are active/managing the guild.

Anybody else would like to share their thoughts on this?

i COMPLETELY agree. When it

i COMPLETELY agree. When it comes to less experience guild mates will come to me about maybe what someone is doing and I say then tell them. Tell them then or something. Make it NICE and constructive. We're a guild. We're team mates. We're here to make each other better and enjoy the game together. Even if I'm in a pick up group i try and give tips and be helpful. I like to be helpful to the people around me and not just a wall of nothingness.

I do get frustrated at times but I get over it move on and that's life. Not everyone is perfect and peachy and as long as we all work to better ourselves and our team THAT'S what sets us apart.

My thoughts

I think a guild should be friendly. Their shouldn't be any gimmicks to get you to join like free money or gear. Everyone should be helpful and nice, I understand that you can't be nice ALL the time but at least try. In my opinion, I like small guilds with maybe 30 or 40 people so it's easier to get to know everyone, and it becomes a group of friends. These are my thoughts.
