I played this game awhile ago back when there was nothing like crystals or heat or materials or alchemy. It was closed for some time after that and I recently got an email for an invite to come back in.

I initially was like "whoa this game got much cooler" after looking at all the stuff they added. However after playing the game for a bit now it seems like, even though they added new stuff, the game isn't as FUN as it was before. For every "oh cool" moment I've had I've also had a "oh man... why did they do that" moment.

I think it's because they basically hit the game with a nerf stick. You can't use 3 weapons unless you buy an upgrade slot. Bombs can't be used unless you charge them. Equipment never drops in dungeons (at least I've never had one drop before). There seem to be no merchants in any of the levels (except for the non-combat break rooms). All the silver key doors have been replaced with energy doors.

It just seems like they put a greater emphasis on energy in general. I get that that's how they make their money, but people need to actually like the game before they're willing to spend money on it.

Though rather uncommon, you

Though rather uncommon, you can find merchants in dungeons as well as equipment drops.

But yeah, a lot of things are broken and unfinished (as one should expect). There is already a (or two) discussion about bombs and some other stuff you've mentioned in the suggestion section. You might want to have a look.

Equipment drops DO happen,

Equipment drops DO happen, they are just rather rare. I got a brandish earlier today, though since I already have one, I'll probably be giving the new one to a friend.

I think a lot of the changes (besides the bombs, but like Aioli said, a lot's being talked about on that front already) were to adjust pacing so that people wouldn't end up hitting the endgame content within a week. Still, I've suggested a few minor tweaks through the suggestion boxes, since while I do appreciate the way energy provides a pacing for the game, it DOES feel a little too strict in its current state.

I've found two emberbreak

I've found two emberbreak shields and one firebreak shield in dungeons, and I've only been playing for a few days without buying any energy so eq drops can't be THAT rare

I like the energy economy but I never saw how it worked before. If I only have 100 energy to bump around with then I can only play for a little while every day, and that's probably a good thing

You're gonna have to buy

You're gonna have to buy energy at some point though, either with crowns or real money. Or trade for it. The reason for this is certain item crafts require more than 100 energy, and this game is so addicting that you can not do without them for 5 minutes once you've found the recipe.

mmmm....

The game has gotten better since then, I think you might find the mission system quite intriguing. I recommend you come back and try again. If you're still around you know...
