I just started a few days ago, and realized after the daily 100 energy, im done for the day, unless I buy more energy with real $money$.
With 100 energy, i can finish the Tier 1 boss Snarbolax and usually have 40-50 energy left over to get depth 5 of another gate.
My question is, in higher tiers(2,3)- does the amount of crowns you make in gatess get higher?
Enough to buy 100 more energy(4-5k+) and keep playing?
~Is it better to craft an item, or buy it in Auction?

depth 1 gives very little crowns .. depth 5 6 7 give a decent amount.. usually 650 crowns to 1000 or sometimes even 1600 depending on the level.
again the depths after basel in tier 2 .. depths 14 to 17 give a good amount of crowns. one example that everyone likes to give is the level before killing the jelly king gives 1800 crowns or so.
another thing too is the material drops are worth more in higher tiers .. one example is in tier 3 the plasma cell is a material that drops and goes for 6000 crowns to 15000 crowns depending on how much it drops that week.
so to answer your question .. just enjoy the game no need to rush .. you do not need to pay any money to get to the end game as many many players have said. it does take many hours though to get that 5 star gear though.

i was also wondering, can I invite a friend in the middle of a gate? like im in depth 6 and realize i cant solo snarbolax..can i invite a friend?
was expecting this to be answered by now :D, but anyway, yeah, you can invite someone provided you aren't on the same floor as the boss. However the person you invite will get less tokens the less of the bosses' group of floors they have done.
The amount of crowns get higher in general, especially tier 2. Most of the time, it should be enough to play forever unless you messed up a lot. For general 2 - 3 star gears, you better buy it in auction for quick upgrade because people makes them a lot. Their price range is between 1.7 - 2.5 k crowns. 4 - 5 star gears requires unbound-ing CE cost which makes them really expensive.
