Ive been playing for a while using mostly swords and i wanna try something different. Gunslinging seems fun but i wanted to get some opinions first before i started.
1. Hail Driver vs Storm Driver: IMO hail is more useful. is there any reason or situation where storm would be better?
2. Umbra Driver vs Biohazard: they function differently but both are good. which do you think is better?
3. Callahan: looks like the best peircing gun to me. opinions?
4. Armor: im thinking Nameless Set, or one Nameless and one Deadshot
and any other tips or things i should know would be helpful

My current loadout for referance:
Vog Cub Cap UV Elemental med
Vog Cub Coat UV Shadow med, Poison med
Barbarous Thorn Shield UV Peircing med (will probably switch to Grey Owlite since Damage bonus will be useless)
CIV UV CTR low
Archon UV ASI med
Glacious
Blackhawk

The Storm Driver is easier to

The Storm Driver is easier to use and monsters can pass the shock status between themselves if they are crowded together. The Hail Driver requires some practice. The trick is not to get upset when you break a freeze but rather learning to take advantage of the opportunity when you happen to freeze something.

Umbra Driver is very straightforward in its use. The Biohazard takes practice to use but the poison is a useful status effect that can break a war of attrition you might run into when facing monsters that have healers.

Callahan takes some practice to use effectively and benefits from ASI on the armor.

If you really want to mix armors, try to go for a combination where each gives ASI. It makes shoot-shoot-reload much more effective than shoot-pause-shoot with guns that only have 2 bullets per clip.

I'd take neither the Hail or

I'd take neither the Hail or Storm driver and go for the Polaris it's much more useful, and bullet bounce doesn't screw you over like with the alchemers.

I'd take the Biohazard over the Umbra for the poison and the 3-shot clip (and the charge!)

Callahan definitely, you'll have to practice though.

Would take Nameless over Deadshot, elemental is everywhere.

Don't get a polaris. You will regret it.

1. Hail is more useful for solo, Storm is more useful for groups. Especially if you have anyone using freeze bombs. If you have a good partner (I.E. one who doesn't just rush in and blow mobs out of your line of fire) Hail can be very useful.

I do NOT recommend using the Polaris in any group setting. The knockback on pulsars is extremely dangerous (it's worse than a careless swordsman. More like if someone is spamming leviathan charges) and you will hurt your team more than you will help. I have several friends who do use it, and I absolutely hate them for it. In my own groups, I give pulsar users two warnings not to blow mobs into my face before I kick them. Solo, or used well however, it is an amazing gun.

Also, the Polaris will not outdamage an alchemer. The ricochets add up very quickly, and you will land more shots thanks to the mob not bouncing all over your screen.

2. The Biohazard is made for killing slimes and weakening large groups of non-shadow resist mobs. Personally I love it, but it takes a lot of practice to get good with.

The Umbra driver is probably the absolute best gun for killing gremlins. It's the easier of the two to aim.

Both of them far outdamage the Sentenza. However, the Sentenza is easily the best gun for T2/T3 gremlin/wolver danger rooms.

3. Honestly, I like the Autogun line more than the Magnus line. While the stun is nice, Magnus guns don't really give you much of a mobility advantage over Autoguns, and Autoguns easily deal 50% more damage than their Magnus counterparts. Also, the charge on the Autogun isn't totally worthless.

4. I have nameless, however I would recommend getting both. Elemental is always featured on a stage, but fiend/undead strata are exceedingly difficult without shadow resist, and it makes FSC much less difficult. (Minus fire)

5. Grey Owlite is the way to go for shields.

Regarding the Polaris

Regarding the Polaris knockback and annoying swordsmen with it:

If the mob you're concerned about is between you and the gunner, either you or the gunner is in the wrong place. Hint: If the other guy is closer to the entrance of the room than you are, it's probably you. Personally, if I do inconvenience the odd swordie with it, I consider it karmic justice for all the times one of them has swatted me with a Lumber or other such nonsense.

Regarding the Polaris vs. the Alchemers:

The Polaris has a 3 shot clip, allowing you to shield after firing 2 shots. To do that with an Alchemer, you can only fire one. Polaris is also good at keeping enemies away from you, and there are many places where you can exploit the terrain in order to keep a bunch of melee-type mobs locked down away from you. Yes, they might take longer to kill than the traditional way, but they are killed without the faintest hope of retaliation, which to me works out to be a better deal.

I actually have two Alchemers and a Pulsar, and I like them all in different situations. The Polaris seems overall the much better gun, but there are places and times where I get more mileage out of my Shadow or Cryo Driver. Both lines are good weapons.

I have right now Polaris,

I have right now Polaris, Storm Driver, Callahan, Volcanic Pepperbox, and Virulent Catalyzer (need the heat for Biohazard). And I can say with confidence that Polaris, Callahan, and Biohazard will be my all-purpose load out, with volcanic pepperbox joining on special occasions like Jelly King/Roarmulus or whatever big dumb boss they add in the future.

The Callahan is the best

The Callahan is the best weapon for wolver and devilites. Swordmen will allways get hit by these mobs.
The Biohazard is awesome for Jellys, they are allways en Mass and you deal great with the chargethen. Requires intelligent teammates or solo. I prefer Skype or TS ;) and a Guild. How ever it can poison, so it's also effective to Gremlins due they will get killed by their healer or even not getting healed. This is a great adventage!
The Polaris is the most useful weapon i think. It deals in FSC over 200 damage per bullet! There i deal way more damage than a swordmen ever will do. Also the Shock wich allways comes back, because of the touching mobs. Deals +75 dmg (3x25) and prevents from block and attacking. Also the polaris stops Puppies from attack.
I also have a Blitz Needle, it's way more useful in FSC than the Magnus. If you charge your attack and attack the Trojan from behind you kill it immediately. You will deal 150 x 15 damage ... Thats right: 2250 damage ;) What now swordmen eh? :D

NOTE: Also keep in mind, never shot 3 bullets with the Polaris and Biohazard if you use Nameless. It takes too long to reload, just wait unit the hand is back in position and shot again 2 times. You deal more damage then. Also you are allways allowed to block. Thats the reason why i hate the alchemers. 1. they deal same damage, just more bullet speed. 2. They have just 2 shot clip -> sux :D
